Do you find the search tool on these forums a waste of time?

I'm not new here, but I get a little frustrated when it comes to using the search tool on this website -- and here's why...

This morning I was trying to search the term "first person" in the copywriting forum, because I am creating a character for a product and I'm writing in first person.

The problem is that, even with quotations around my search "phrase", it still gives me all the searches related to the single words "first" and "person" rather than the phrase "first person".

As you can imagine, there are hundreds of pages listed that use these two words in them--seperately.

If anyone knows a secret to searching a phrase, it would be very helpful.
Not just helpful to me, but to others as well.

Having been a mod on other forums in the past, I know how irritating it can be to answer a question that has already been answered dozens of times.

The common mantra given to noobs by mods and forum owners is "do a search... it's been discussed dozens of times".

OK, so I have... the search tool even says that I can search a phrase, so why doesn't it give me the output I'm looking for? Why doesn't it only show me the "phrase"?

What am I doing wrong?

If I don't get an answer on this, I will be forced to create a thread topic that may have already been posted in the past.

Sure, I could have already posted a thread asking my question on using first person in my copy, but I would much rather educate myself (and others) on how to properly search a phrase, so I don't have to create redundant threads in the future.

... I'm thinking along the lines of "teach a man to fish" here.

Any feedback you give me will be much appreciated... this is not a complaint as much as it is a request (cry) for help.

Can you help? Do you have the answer I'm looking for?
