Not trying to be harsh, and yes the video was funny and I guess it did have a PS lesson to be learned... but not everyone will see that... what people will see is that it's ok to post a funny/off topic video in the Main Forum section, and then you will get a bunch of copy cats posting irrelevent stuff that should be in the OT forum... this happens quite often.

I'd normally agree, Jared, but the lesson I was thinking about was one of viral marketing. That's what keeps it on topic, IMO.

The guy has had multiple millions of views.

A tad better than the 34 people who were privileged enough to witness my "gaussian blur" demo all those years ago...

I see your point Steve,

If Pavon would have mentioned viral video marketing in his OP, explained how many views this guy gets, and started a discussion on THAT topic, I probably would not have reported/requested the thread be moved to the OT forum.

I guess my point is that you can't expect everyone to read between the lines and see hidden lessons. People will see things as they are, and in this context, it just looked like a funny video posted in the Main Forum.

Those threads are for 'private' forums or forums set up for that specifically and nothing else.

So that's the deal. It was moderated out a second time and I asked the admins to leave it alone and let it stay out because of all the loonies coming out of the woodwork trying to copy it.

I know it's a different subject we are talking about here, but in the same spirit, we don't need a bunch of loonies thinking it's ok to post funny/off topic videos that get a ton of views in the Main Forum.
