A sad day. I know many Warriors here have been inspired by Mr. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". He was a true thought leader.

This is very sad news. I actually didn't know about this until reading your thread title.

My dad originally put me on to Stephens audiobook "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", and he has inspired me throughout my own business too.

Man, that's terrible news. I love that book. My favorite: REACTIVE versus PROACTIVE. It impacts my life daily.

While he, and other inspirational people may have passed, their works transcend their physical beings. Covey's work will continue to be enjoyed and revered for generations to come. So celebrate the work of the great man.

Him and Napoleon Hill have both been influential to me. I heard he passed on his motorcycle. A good way to go living life to the fullest even at his age.

      Leaving with a bang!
hmm... what is a positive twist one can put in such sad story?
How about: live is indeed short. One more proof we got here.
None of you reading these lines will still be here in 100 years.
Therefore: stop screwing around and go into hyper-drive!
      Implement Kern's two commandments:
      1. don't f**k around
      2. don't be a pussy
Perhaps the mark of greatness is when people want to remember you
and that you've helped and touched so many when you were around...

Sad day indeed, i go back to the 7 habits regularly, and still have a daily reminder on my outlook calendar to review my current tasks and prioritize them effectively for the day.

Very sad news, indeed. I love (and own) the "7 Habits" book and I also used the Franklin-Covey planners for years.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Stephen R. Covey
yesterday, due to complications from a bicycle accident
      back in April.

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen
      R. Covey was the second personal development book I
      bought back in Jan/Feb 1996.

I didn't really understand it the first time I read it, but
a couple of years later I read it again and began to
grasp some of his important principles.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Stephen R. Covey at
a leadership seminar in Dublin, Ireland back in June 1998.
He was a real gent and was very personable.

I've re-read that book a few times and listened to many
of his audios too. Whilst he was not the most dynamic
speaker to listen to, the soundness of his principles and
his ability to teach them was unquestioned.

In case you haven't come across the 7 Habits of Highly
      Effective People
      , here they are:

      1. Be Proactive
      2. Begin with the End in Mind
      3. Put First Things First
      4. Think Win-Win
      5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
      6. Synergize
      7. Sharpen the Saw

I am thankful that Stephen R. Covey produced his 7 Habits
series and he has had a big influence on my own personal
      and business philosophy.

He's left a tremendous legacy in the body of work he's left
behind. If you haven't already heard of him, I'd recommend
that you check out his work starting with his classic book
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I'll be thumbing
through his material again for sure.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

this was very sad news. His books were helpful to me and I thank him for that.

What I took out of the story was that he was an amazing person that loved life and took care of himself. How many 79-year olds do you know that are cyclists?

RIP and thanks for helping others including myself

Sad news. I started with his The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and it was the most influential book apart from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's stuff.

Good stuff and none of the usual BS that goes with The Secret and LOA stuff that gets peddled around these days.
