Hey All!

I have heard so many great things about this forum - I am really excited to be here and look forward to learning more about IM and having some great discussions with all of you! I am in the video marketing + video SEO world and am hopelessly addicted to the power of YouTube and video marketing in general.

If you have any questions for me or want to know anything about video marketing or video SEO please feel free to ask. I'm here to learn as much as I can from all of you on how I can be more successful in my online marketing but also want to contribute when and where I can.

Best!
Bart Miller

Welcome! I'm pretty green myself here.
Watch out for the right etiquette.
    Some things are frowned upon,
but it takes a few missteps in order to find out what those are...
    cheers!

very true. But watch out for the "next shiny object" syndrome. What's that? You learn some thing (watch a course, read an ebook, whatever) then instead of starting to implement what you've just learned, you go for the other book/course/etc. and start learning that instead. That's the NSO! It's very real, so be seriously careful !! If you're not, you'll have all this knowledge, and nothing else to show for your time.
Take MASSIVE ACTION, not massive learning !!
      Good luck!

        Welcome Bart!

I'd just like to add, that you could read the forum rules so you don't have to take any missteps.

And taking massive action is good as long as it is focused action, the correct action in the proper steps.

Ideally, that would be study, take some action, nail the process, take some more action, nail it, learn something else, take some action, and so on.

Taking action without forethought or direction could have you running around like a chicken with its head cut off and do nothing but plain tucker you out.

I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood.

Great point, but the nice thing with "massive action" is that "you don't have to know everything" before starting your journey. Most people, me included, want to "cover all the angles" first, before doing ANYTHING. So we just waste a lot of time this way. That is procrastination. The secret is that you can continue your learning while you're already in motion, and self-correct your aim while reaching for your goal.

Take Frank Kern: does the guy look like he's spending much much time "studying" or "doing stuff"? I know he's a very smart dude and he works a lot, but I believe above all he's a master at self-correcting (as he mentions this numerous times in his interviews). He had a ton of successes, made millions, but he also failed more than most.

... so maybe the secret sauce is: the more you fail and then get up on your feet, the more you succeed !! In the end, it's just a numbers' game... because each failure is not "really" a failure as part of your learning process, so with each failure you self-correct, and each failure brings you closer to your goal (in this Kern interview I fell on yesterday, Frank's initial goal/dream was to do $10k/month in online business. But he actually never experienced making that amount, as on his 1st month he was closer to $20k, and after that he really took off ... last year he did $10M or so, or was it the year before... great interview ... I think it was called "Frank Kern 20 minutes segment", or something like that)

I think the secret you just posted and what I posted basically say the same thing.
I think the only difference is that I really can't see anyone start taking action with no knowledge whatsoever.

It is true about Frank Kern, however, the major difference is that he is seasoned and not just completely new and starting out.

I'll bet he did do some studying/research/reading before he went into massive action mode for the first time.

Welcome to WF. I agree with Bryan. It's one of the biggest problem for a newbie in IM. Keep on learning and learning and buying and buying without really taking action and implementing what you've learn. I admitted that I'm guilty as well when I first start with IM.

Knowledge alone won't make you money..no matter how much you know about IM. Doing the work and taking action are the one that will move you toward success. Always keep that in mind.

Welcome Bart! I am with you, I believe the future is in video. I would also add the new social platforms (Facebook and Twitter) and the every increasing move towards poeple using tablets and there smart phones to access the internet. Long gone are the days when you could slap up a simple Adsense site and make some easy money.

    Fellow addict here.

The future of the internet is video and mobile. I'm on mobile broadband and some youtube videos are un-watchable due to the file type. All video marketers should be aware of who's watching and how they access online videos.

These people will steer you right my friend. I've been part of lots of threads, both reading and posting, and only rarely have I come across any punks who like to put newbies (like me) down. This place is mecca for people like us!

It is also wise to be able to accept a little "tough love" without taking it personally.

Some people just have a not so "warm and fuzzy" way of expressing themselves.
