Do you also play music?

I used to play the violin. Played for 14 years and then headed off to college.... unfortunately I rarely pick up my violin anymore.

My favorites at the time were always classical... Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi. I enjoyed the occasional fiddle tune every now and then. Music is so powerful - might have to go and get myself a new violin to start playing again.

I use to play in little pubs, accoustic guitar songs and I had a friend who played Violin. Nothing fills the background quite like it, and I have to say that combination was one of my favorites of all time, I would love to do it again, but its hard to find violinists who are interested in that kind of thing, especially ones who can vocally harmonize..., or who can play by ear and arent already taken. They are very in demand.

We would play the Eagles and Dan Fogelberg, Jim Croce...alot of folk and soft rock- it sounded AWESOME. These were mellow pubs and it was a really nice vibe.

I've been playing for about 12 years. It's mostly for fun and to get my mind off whatever's stressing me out. Sometimes I record, too. Again -- just for fun. It's always been therapeutic for me!

I play guitar also; In college I had the great joy to hear Carlos Montoya in person.
At the time he was about eighty, and had been playing for sixty five years.

He came on stage and sat on a wooden stool. He simply said, " People often ask me
if playing the guitar is my passion. I tell them it is not only my passion, it is my life. "

He then said, " My English is not so good, so I will play for you instead. He smiled,
and played his guitar for an hour or so. He played as only a Master can play.

He played one piece about a Bull Fight, and you could hear sounds of the trumpet,
castinetts clicking, the crowd yelling, all by the strings of his guitar.

Sadly, he died that same year, but I will always cherish the hour he spent with us
that day. It was MAGICAL! Truely a MAGICAL ESPERIENCE!

I knew I was missing something! I should have taken lessons. Are there some exercises you're supposed to do to loosen up? I just tried holding my mouth like that and sprained my jaw.

Dont be intimidated, BB has been doing it for years, it'll come to you, at least now you know what to practice holding right. And to think , it wasnt the guitar this whole time!

Sure. I play classical songs such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony on Hammond organ, a jazzy version of Flight of the Bumblebee on guitar, Stargazer by Ritchie Blackmore on electric guitar, Bolivian folk songs. I hit the "play" button for lots of different kinds of music.

I took clarinet lessons when I was at school. Didn't really enjoy it. I only did it because that's what my friends were learning at the time.

What I would really love to play is the piano. Wouldn't have the patience though.
