I didn't consider it spam either, as a matter of fact, I had typed up some suggestions for you but found your thread was deleted when I tried to post it. But I would like to show you this forum rule,

5. If your thread is deleted, do not re-post it. Do not post a thread asking why it was deleted. Read the rules, watch how things are done here, and figure it out. This is not complicated stuff.

So unfortunately, this will be reported and deleted too.

Now I'm not sure what the answer for you is...

i wasn't trying to get members from this forum and neither that site needs members.

my intention was only to get some opinions about the site because i think that's a completely new idea and i don't know whether it is more useful or more harmful for people.

The idea behind that site is that "we are customers and we pay for food in hotel, education in college so we have a right to criticise things that we don't like and others deserve to know that what they are getting after paying..

Well, since this thread is still here, I'll try and re-post what I had written.

I would recommend that in your terms of service for your site, you let potential new members know that rude comments and deliberate bashing of people or businesses will not be tolerated, as this site is meant to be helpful.

Then I would have a moderator available at all times ready to delete posts that break your terms of service to prove how serious you are about it.

And I do wish you all the best with your new endeavor.

The only purpose of this site is to help people and nothing else. it is not launched yet and it's in test phase.

And yes !! after it's launch the posts on this site will be constantly moderated and as you said "rude comments and deliberate bashing of people or businesses will not be tolerated"

You're quite welcome!

Now that that is taken care of, I think it could be quite successful with a good marketing promotion in place. There is a site called Angie's list that sort of does the same thing and it is doing well.

Another thing you might consider is possibly removing the anonymous part out of the equation as it does have a tendency to attract people who like to be rude under the safe haven of anonymity.

You could perhaps let them know that their private information will never ever be shared without their permission if that was the reasoning behind the anonymous part.

Just some more thoughts.

That's a good suggestion but it's been already taken care off.

This site uses Ip address to log the person in and prevents them to make more then one post about a person/business.

and as far as getting information from people then they can always provide false information about them or they can use someone else's name and then their will be one more problem rather then a solution of anonymity..

Just some friendly advice . . . you can get opinions about your site in the Web Design forum, it doesn't have to be specifically about the design. Posting links to your site n the wrong places is considered self-promotion. It doesn't much matter that you think it belongs in the off-topic forum, there are rules to be followed and apparently you keep breaking them.

When it comes right down to it, the off topic forum is for most anything other than business, so your post really doesn't belong in this forum at all.

Sometimes it is tolerated for a time, sometimes not. I don't make the rules and I'm not a mod, so don't worry about me ... but if I were a betting man I'd bet this thread will be deleted too, because you've broken two rules in starting it.

I had a very large forum that was based around nothing but guest posting and opinions, let me just say get yourself a lot of mods and prepare for legal to sort through lots of letters. It's very cool but keep in mind it can get out of hand quick. Now I am not saying to stop what you are doing, go with it and let the experience guide you.

I'm afraid not. I think you may be able to if no one has replied, but once there are replies a mod has to do it.

You could click the read triangle in the sidebar for your original post and ask them to delete it for you. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much. You haven't done anything thousands of others haven't done. I don't think anyone will be too hard on you (just my opinion, not an official determination). It's part of the learning process around here.

You might also want to up your post count with some valuable contribution before expecting it in return. They get too many 0 count thread spammers here to be able to take the time to decipher the very few that are non-spam. You are a needle in a haystack - and your odds are not good here, because we don't like hay.
