Ya the Oatmeal is great, if you haven't seen a bunch of his stuff I'm jealous, wish I could re-read it all for the first time. Also check out Clients From Hell.

I had a Pipefitters Union boss make me put a picture of his poodle on the homepage.

I read this a while back and laughed so hard it made me cry.

Then, when I stopped laughing, I started crying for real, because of how true it is.

I haven't designed but a few sites since.

And only the other day I said to one of our designers, it doesn't look "right".

    And wandered off.

That's alright. As long as it looked edgy and it popped.

It's a funny article, but it does not apply to clients only. I honestly (I am totally not making it up) saw a portfolio page of a designer, who on the home page placed a picture of her dog, with a short description how she likes design and dogs. And each category link on her navigation of her portfolio was designed as a dog treat. I kid you not. And to top it off, she used colors and overall design not far from the one mentioned in the article (the client's original page).

Yeah, can relate to that, l thankfully do my own designing.

And have just finished some software, without my Mothers, etc input!

I think that POP refers to the gun, after the client and others have turned it into a dogs breakfast!

I'll never forget an episode of Celebrity Apprentice that featured Latoya Jackson.

During a group meeting with the graphic designer who was designing a product label everyone is contributing constructive suggestions bar Latoya who is blending meekly with the background.

She eventually steps up to the mark to chip in her two cents....

      "Can you have it POP!?"

      Oh, my life.....

LOL, this is funny as hell. Thanks for sharing.
I just had a client last month show up 45 minutes late for our appointment. I texted her and asked if she was coming and she told me...Sorry, I am on my way, I had to take a quick detour to pick up my mom to bring her to our meeting. LOL She is no longer a client.

PS - she told me she has aquired a copy of photoshop and is teaching herself design.

This is funny but also true, which makes it sad. I've had 3 or 4 similar to this one clients and it is impossible to work with. As a designer you've seen lots and lots websites. You've made researches to what most people like. And them comes some idiot and you have to do stupid things like crappy logo, banner, ecover or web design which you are a shame to put in your portfolio.

Im seriously considering buying the poster lol its brilliant. I had a client send me back and forth making changes till we had like 8 different versions(I had just started out and needed the sale) and then proceeded to put all the designs on their kitchen table and have their kids help decide. Both kids were under 7. The concept that won was the first one! After weeks of back and forth lol you learn quick in this business.

That whole graphic precisely explains my experience with a company I used to work for. Instead of the mother though, it was a daughter.

    Too funny.
