Girl Traces US Presidents' Family Tree, All Related But One | digtriad.com

(now you see what happens when you allow inbreeding? :p)

So...are we all related to Kevin Bacon?

Family trees are funny. Here are three of my distant relatives:

The number of ancestors you have grows exponentially as you go back in time. King John was around about 800 years ago. In that length of time, I'm pretty sure you have hundreds of millions of ancestors (if not billions).

That means all those Presidents are related to him... but so am I... and so are you... and so is that fella over there... and so is that lady that passed you on the street earlier... and so are all those people in the movie you watched last night... etc.

Want to hear something FUNNY? They USED to say everyone was related to someone from AFRICA! NOW they are saying it is someone from AUSTRALIA that CAME from africa.

Gee, I've never even been to australia, though I always wanted to go.

Considering the culture there, according to them, every non black, and maybe most blacks, could trace themselves to a person from australia, possibly even a person currently living there, of ALL places. BTW for race baiters, if it isn't obvious, the person I am talking about is an aborigine that is black, and they are believed to have moved there from africa LONG ago.

Almost the entire population of Europe is descended from one of 7 specific, genetically identifiable women who lived a long time ago.

If anyone's interested, it's probably the single best and most interesting "scientific book" written for non-scientists that I've ever read in my entire life and academic career (not that that's been so long ), and I can't recommend it strongly enough.

We all originate from the same gene pool and if you check your science on the matter, you will find that the pool weakens with every successive generation. Despite what some would have you believe, our bodies are gradually deteriorating. They are not getting better or stronger. They do not evolve. (Although, they might adapt to different conditions.)

In any event, they have like 99% of DNA they consider JUNK! They don't even look at it. And the rest has mostly small differences, that could even be because of some event that happened at some point. So I still find it hard to believe they can predict changes and mutations over many generations, and say specifically where we came
from. SUPPOSEDLY mitochondrial DNA doesn't change very much, and yet is somehow identifiable, which seems to contradict itself, but if that is as certain, I guess it IS better. Mitochondrial DNA only comes from the mother.

It is interesting. I recently watched some news program or something that said males die earlier than women because their genetics are flawed and they get that from the father. It copies a thought presented by a TV program where the mother says her boys are worse than her girls(though only ONE girl has presented any evidence of ability and she doubts that also), because they come from their father.

The TRUTH, according to the current understanding of genetics, is that everyone gets 23 sets of chromosomes from each parent. Females get 23 COMPLETE pairs. Males get 22 complete pairs, and the last pair is missing a bit of information(the part from the FATHER). The information in any pair that is used and missing or recessive comes from the other parent. So if all your sons have a given non sex related defect, that your daughters don't, it likely comes from the MOTHER! Be happy that the daughters got the X chromosome from the father to negate that.

Anyway, most DNA that males get that causes them to die early causes them to die VERY early. And that has been known for a VERY long time. You can just look at infant mortality grouped by sex. It also seems to affect every race and culture.

I can think of a lot of things that could explain why women tend to live longer. Maybe we should wait for them to normalize before we start looking at genetics. At the current rate, they may normalize within the next 40 years. Of course, some things might be related to some things that are just related to the sex. More men are probably bald due to DHT caused in part by normal testosterone, for example. And men are more likely to get hernias because there is more space around some openings. Hernias CAN lead to death. Women have similar problems, but they tend to be related to the greater chances of disease in some areas, or things related to pregnancy.

BTW did you hear about the linking of obama to the first American slave? they TRIED to link his FATHER to a slave, but COULDN'T! NOW, they claim to have linked him to the first American slave through his MOTHER! His mother had a RICH white relative with a last name of BUNCH. The first black slave had a last name of PUNCH. They forget that slaves were sometimes given the names of their owners, and changes occur sporadically over time, but they claim that the black slave PUNCH might be the father of the RICH white guy named BUNCH that was supposedly born to a white father.

“The research, I am convinced, is sound,” said Ms. Mills, who also reviewed the findings at Ancestry.com’s request. “The P and the B are virtually meaningless in historical context. What matters is the historical evidence that can be mustered to place the same people in the same area.”

Ms. Cerny was more skeptical but said the research team’s careful wording was appropriate. “I’m sure people will be tantalized and try to prove or disprove it,” she said. “But what they’re saying is very safe and appropriate. I would be tempted myself to try to make that connection.”
It goes to show you how shaky the DNA records are.

Actually the 99% of "junk" DNA isn't really junk and not important. It's that back when the first wave of research was done on DNA the scientists at the time couldn't find a reason for all of the "extra" genomes.

There are a lot of new theories about what the junk DNA does ranging from helping with evolution to controlling regulatory functions to being the reason why humans are born with innate skills (breathing, feeling, etc.)
