Almost crashed my dear Subaru today

So I am driving down the highway near Ottawa today in my 2004 Subie XT (see my avatar) going between 80-90K (50-55 MPH) and I am approaching an Audi that decides to suddenly turn left right in front of me.

I slammed on the brakes but he was way too close and I would have piled right into him almost head on. But in a stunning display of maneuvering I was able to swerve around him, wheels screaming on the asphalt. I missed him by less than a foot.

He saw me at the last minute and stopped in my path, but if he had continued to turn there is no way I could have avoided the collision. And it would have been a doozy.

My passenger (once she had her voice back) now calls me Mario Andretti LOL

Good job on avoiding crash. I used to own GC8 Type-Ra and 2007 STi and I still miss them.

Yeah I think any other car and I may not have been able to avoid him....

And I think rolling would have been a distinct possibility if I had clipped him. *whew*

    Glad you're ok - you're lucky you didn't roll.

I'm so glad that it was only a close call and not the real thing!

Kudos to you for your quick reactions and your maneuvering skills.

I have had way too many close ones in my time and so I totally understand the adrenaline pulsing through your veins and the what ifs racing through your mind!

But the most important thing is that you saved yourself and your car and neither you nor your Subaru are scathed.

That must have been insane, I've only been in near accidents too.
