how to sell home made pickle worldwide?

I have a home made pickle and my housemates/friends etc think I should try selling it. I've done a bit of research and I think it actually would sell, due to what it is and what's in it.

Now, how do I go about this? Should I take samples to farm shops etc and ask them to try it and think about it? I could try online.

Also, with regards to hygiene etc, where do I stand? I'd do it from home, but would I need the kitchen inspected?

Any advice much appreciated!

I would say that if you could put it in an air tight seal (Like a stick of beef jerky comes in), a single pickle per unit.... AND you sold it 10 times cheaper than anyone else wholesale. In other words make it to where it could retail for like 30 cents or something.

Then you could sell it in bulk all over the world on Alibaba, hundreds of thousands of units at a time.

The key is to find something people already buy (like those pickles that sell for $1.69 per pickle at the checkout stand), and deliver it to that market so mind blowingly cheaper than everyone else that iots unbelievable.

    People will buy it.

Ps. You know those big pickles that retail for $1.69 per single unit?

You could have slightly smaller ones that retail for 30-40 cents per unit... you could probably MAKE them for 10 cents per unit somehow, and sell them for 15 cents per unit, and wholesale truckloads of them...at manufacturers cost. The numbers may be slightly higher all around, but you get the idea.

You could have a "mini" version of something thats already popular. "Mini" is popular in and of itself.

While some are selling a whole jar for $1.69, others get that "per pickle". Its all how you design your product and package it.

    for instance:

Here you can get the bags for them for only 8 cents apiece. http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/43...aging_hot.html

Here, one could get a contract doing packaging for a guy who has the same idea I just gave you... The possibilities are endless. People just have to think outside of the box: http://sourcing.alibaba.com/rfq_deta...=title_0713_lp

Here is a person looking to buy pickles: http://sourcing.alibaba.com/rfq_deta...ltitle_0627_lp

Its important to note that while the word "pickle" itself may niot have a big buyer markets , it also falls under categories such as "snacks", and "Vegetables", and "condiments", "dollar Items". "Food products".

    Again the possibilities are endless.

    Interesting question. Thanks.

    Hope this helps.

Regarding comparing pickles to beef jerky, they are POLAR OPPOSITES! There are a LOT of laws you have to worry about. FIRST talk to your local government office. The EU has a board to approve suh things, check with them. On the bright side, if you can get THEM to approve it, you may be able to sell across most of europe. In the US, you have the USDA and the FDA.

If you look at my first link Steve you will see a better example (I edited on you, sorry), at first I didnt know what I wanted to say "Airtight sealed...", but link says a thousand words.

I agree, you have to make sure you are compliant. But then again, they sell containers JUST for these purposes that are already compliant...

Ps. Many of these overseas, and even American distributors like Walmart will give you contracts. All you have to do is call Walmart corp headquarters to schedule a showing of your product with a buyer, or get on alibaba and find some overseas distributors who buy things in the above mentioned categories.

When a person is in a position to produce a product themselves they have alot of opportunity, especially when cost to produce is low, and competitors prices are high.

They CAN'T! The absolute BEST product sold for "compliance" is ONLY to ENABLE you to be compliant with ONE PART! If you did EVERYTHING perfect, and sealed it with air, or didn't sanitize it properly, you aren't compliant. Of course, it is easy to do something wrong.

I think that you will discover, after extensive research, that one of the hardest thing you will ever try to sell in your life, will be a pickle.

I'm always loathe to rain on anyone's parade, but this is simply not a viable income opportunity. You will spend many thousands of dollars before you are able to sell your first pickle and the market is saturated with very big players who will devour you like a gherkin.

Good luck, though. Cheers. - Frank
