i am a big fan of the ufc and mma in general. I just want to ask you who is you favorite mma fighter and why? my personal favorite is anderson silva because his striking is awesome and he beats his opponents without any effort what so ever.

Fedor. He's an great fighter, and unlike many other fighters,
    he's not full of himself.

Probably Dan Henderson. He'll fight anyone at any weight.

    Also, Bones Jones and GSP.

I don't really have a taste for the sport anymore, but I was a big fan of Dan Severn back in the day. He was just an old school workman.

I was also a fan of Oleg Taktarov. He was a great technician. Now he makes a pretty good bag guy in B movies...

Of course, I was in awe of Royce Gracie. Master technician who revolutionized the sport in its infancy.

Honorable mention to Keith Hackney for his fight against Emanuel Yarborough, and because he's an old Kenpo guy like me.

BJ Penn and Nick and Nate Diaz. These guys will fight anyone, although they talk alot of snap, they can back it up. It seems like the game is changing alot, like champions turning down fights... ( you know who). For me its all about heart. these guys have them.

Maybe he's going by the literal meaning of "baddest" .

        baddest: superlative of bad
        Adjective:
Of poor quality; inferior or defective
As limited as his range was, Brock Lesnar did defeat a few notable adversaries.

Yes he did. Due to his 300lbs frame he walked into the cage at and less then 2% body fat. He was a one trick pony. If pat barry, kongo, travis browne all had his size and strength they would already be the greatest of all time.

Check this out before it is taken down (and the UFC gets these taken down right quick). It is spooky, like Lyoto Machida was hypnotizing Ryan Bader.

I really enjoy any of the jiu jitsu / submission artists.
Big country is also fun to watch.
And love him or hate him, Chael Sonnen knows how to market himself, and is a really good fighter.

Cowboy cerrone. Just because ive worked with him before and the dude has the sickest raw muay thai ive seen in the cage. He dont care who he fights or when he fights. Hes a fighter not a diva.

Because he is a fraud. The only legit badass's in the movies are Micheal jai white and bruce lee.

Does MMA not stand for "Man on Man Action?"

Seriously though: Brock Lesnar, I followed him from the WWF/WWE days. He was one of the top wrestlers who made a biggest impact on me when he was introduced to the sport.

Marco Ruas was one of the best fighters in his day. he won UFC 7 in a classic fight against 6'8", 330 lb Paul Varelans when Marco only weighed 210.

Marco fought back when they were real fights. No ref stood you up for inactivity because the fans were bored because no one was bleeding. 6 of his wins were in no time limit fights. One of which lasted over 4 hours.

BUT the true legend in the sport who will be the best for all time is 1997 black belt magazine man of the year.....

      Helio Gracie!

He's the father of the entire Gracie clan that so many of you have cited.
The man had a NO RULES fight in Rio that went over 3 hours. That's super studly for a no rules fight.

He fought a 340 pound Sumo wrestler at a body weight of 176 and won.

He taught all his boys that you all like so much (and should). He was the first fighter to be given Brazilian National Hero status.

      And so much more.

      Those are my picks.

He also reportedly won a fight in which both of his arms were broken. No shit.

I didn't mention him because I assumed we starting with the UFC, but good call on your part.

And to the poster who called Chuck Norris a fraud: BS. Check out his history. Just because he wasn't in his prime for the MMA craze does not make him a fraud.

Of course, I think we can all agree that Chuck Norris' tears do not, in fact, cure cancer.

He won a few karate and TK tourneys. BIG DEAL. The gracies and sakurabas would run thru him like a freight train. There was always someone better then someone. Just like tyson in his prime did nothing but duck holyfield and ducked lewis for the longest time. Theres always someone better then the hype.
