I've read lots of debates about tattoos. Some said that having Tattoos is a pagan activity while others said that it's for recreation activity only?

What is your point of view about it?

Thanks!
Jonny.

      Here's the deal with tatoos:

There are people who dislike tatoos.

These people will say "If only you didn't have a tatoo...."

Whereas there are also people who favor tatoos

But you much less likely to hear that person say "I wish you had a tatoo..."

Overall, then if the concern of others opinions is an issue (which it is in this case given the thread) we could conclude that tatoos are generally viewed more of a negative than a positive.

Coincedentally the word "Tatoo" is only one letter different from "taboo".....

One can't be a fan of tattoos AND worry about the opinions of others regarding those tattoos. If they're worried about what someone thinks about their tattoo, then they're not ready for a tattoo.

I don't have any tattoos because of my low tolerance for voluntary pain but they're not a big deal to me. As for the possible obstacles the tattoo bearer may have in the future, I think it all depends on where the tattoo is located and what it is.

A butterfly on the buttock is far less problematic than a swastika on the forehead.

I have over $4k in professional ink on my body. No matter how bad things ever get, I can safely say that I am still worth at least 4k

LOL!! but on a serious note, I really do have plenty of tats.

But do I care if anyone else likes them? NOPE.

I didn't get them for anyone else. I got them for ME.

Tattoos are art, and your body is the canvas.. Thats all.

And for the record, you will never see someone with tattoos judging someone without tattoos.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when the tables are turned.

I love my tattoo. I got it when I was 42 and the mother of two teenagers. I haven't gone straight to h*** (yet).

But it is on my right shoulder so it wouldn't be seen at a job interview. You can have them placed where they are not obvious to everyone.

However, if you feel they may be "pagan" than don't get one.

Or get a henna tattoo and live on the wild side for a short time period

I like Rose's idea. Wait until you're a little older. The butterfly right above your butt-crack at 18 will look like a moth hitting a windshield when you're 39.

Everyone and there mom has a tattoo. I think people with out them are now more unique.

Too each his own. You want a tatt? Get a tatt.

My thoughts, though? Tattoos used to be cool. Now 16 year old girls are lit up with them. Kinda takes the baddassness right out of the mix. So, don't get a tatt just because you want one, get one because it means something to you. My opinion. YMWV.

(You know what is badass, though? Rose ^^^^^^^ getting a tattoo at 42. That's awesome.)

One of the funniest jokes about this usjbect was on AGT last night. Tom Cotter is hilarious and he says:

Girls today get birds and butterflies inked on their lower back. They have a beautiful butterfly that seems to be emerging from the cocoon of their butt crack. Of course, they are 19.

In 30 years that tattoo will look like a dead moth that slammed into a windsheild.

I don't want them on me. That said, I really don't care if
other people want to get some ink.

All I have to say is choose your tattoos carefully, and if you're
young, you might want to delay it a little.

The best idea for a tattoo (and I may have posted this in another thread a while back) was a guy who had a red heart with a back border as a tattoo. Every time he got a new girlfriend he used a black marker to artistically writer her name on the heart. Environmentally sound - recycled tattoo.

I've never wanted one - older son is the same (odd as he's ex-military and has had macho jobs) - younger son said he planned on a tattoo but when "everyone" started getting them he changed his mind.

As a family - we are undecorated

Never had the urge to get one myself. My fear is that I will get one and then change my mind about wanting that particular design.

When I was in high school girls were just starting to get tats now and again and my mother would rage about them being signals that you are trashy. That stuck in my mind for a lot of years, but with so many people getting them now I think the stigma has totally worn off except in a few very conservative circles. I think if she were alive today and I told her I was going to get one, she'd find it no big deal. Times and customs change. I still never really had an urge to get one though.

I think its terrible, you should go smack yourself 200 times for repentance.

I have a symbol on my wrist that represents my past beliefs, that stands for "Man God".

    Now its "Gods Man".

Once I put that thing on me, God went on a mission I think to show me that I was NOT my own God...and he could prove it. If I was then I was sure in deep trouble serving such a weak God.

Tattoos are trivial. Paint your whole body, I dont think God cares about such things really, those teachings were for another time, and another culture...when tattos represented something different.

I think the stigma varies from culture to culture, but I dont think universally speaking that God cares either way- Its not a moral thing in and of itself, unless it is to YOU.

(Which in my case it was an intentional rebellion... I did it to prove a point to myself, that I was fully committed to my ideas...they were bad ideas though...and we often announce what we fail to realize, if that makes sense)

Dont sin against your own beliefs that's all I can say. If you do something that YOU think is wrong, then its wrong for you.

      Ah... um... okay.

I learned a long time ago not to try and test God, or to ask questions you don't want an answer to. God always answers questions. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes no and sometimes its wait. And sometimes he shows you.

I once asked how someone could do something that stupid. God showed me by having me do almost the exact same thing, only dumber. I've learned to be careful of what questions I ask.

I don't think that having a tattoo is a bad idea. Me and my girlfriend have a tattoo with our names and for me it's just our artistic way of expressing our love. But if you are the type of person who's looking for a job but want to have a tattoo, I guess it's better to have it in a part where it's not so obvious maybe at your back will do.

I think God loves His children the same way. Tattooes, clothes, haircuts and so on, these are just human things, they don't matter. What matters are you actions, do good, save people, help people, be good, try not to do bad stuff, try to repair the bad stuff that you've done, that's what's important. A tattoo in the eyes of God is... nothing. I have 2 tatooes, the first tattoo with the initials of my mom and the 2nd one with the initial of my dad. I won't ever regret them.

It is all down to personal choice...

Tattoos are pretty fashionable at the moment - and being a fashionable guy - I have one.

No doubt they will go out of fashion again in a few years. I'm aware of that. But hey, you only live once..

The key is to not judge someone based on if they have a tattoo or not. I have exactly the same personality now I have a full tattoo sleeve that I had when I was "clean cut" a couple of years ago.

A tattoo is a form of body modification, made by inserting indelible ink into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment.

Yeah, For some, Tattoos is a pagan activity while for others it's for recreation activity .
Well I think that, In Today s Modern World, oozing with modern popularity of tattoos, have given immense rise of tattoo enthusiasts.

Tattoos are not just for bikers, prisoners and gang members anymore. Mothers of small children have tattoos, doctors and lawyers and scientists have ink as do college professors, mechanics, artists, homemakers and everyone in between.
Tattoos have become so main stream that several national and international newspapers have regular tattoo and body art sections. As the quality of the art has grown so have its adherents. Many artists are creating museum worthy tattoos. And it seems nearly everyone wants to carry this form of art with them forever.

Hmmm, tattoos, will always have the bickie gang, or if you P*** me off, l will belt the living daylights out of you before talking about it, stigma!!!

So, people with a religious bent, that want to relay piece and forgiveness, etc. should think twice before putting them on their arms, etc.

People can't figure you out! This person looks nice enough, but can he be trusted?

You end up being a contradiction in terms! a bit like a nun wearing a swastika???? She may be wearing this because she likes the artistic expression of the Chinese good luck symbol, but most people wouldn't see it that way!

Guy Sebastian, (AU Idol) is a classic example, of this, he has tattoos all over his arms, and is a Christian! And first impressions are, l will beat the crap out of you if you knock me in some way, but will be sweet the rest of the time?

So, you may be the nicest person alive, but putting tatt's on certain visible parts of your body, will give the opposite view initially. Definitely a no-no for job interviews!

And if he's anything like me, thats probably 100% correct.

People can talk all the shit they want, it doesn't bother me one bit..

But once you try to physically assault me, or anyone/anything I love, we go from a misunderstanding to something else.

Talk is cheap. Actions/body language speaks much louder than "blah blah blah blah" LOL

Trust me tho. Just because someone has a bunch of tattoos, it doesnt mean they are automatically out to try & cause trouble. 99% of the time its the exact opposite.

People with tats dont go out looking for problems. We mind our own business. But if problems should arise, we are more than willing to handle them as needed.. well, most of us.

I can't say that applies to all tatted people, because just look at Justin Bieber (lolzzzzzzz)

I'm pretty sure that when compared to biblical terms, tattoos are no different from piercings.

So you're telling me that when a mother gets her daughter's ears pierced at age 1 - which keep in mind, the child has NO CONTROL OVER at that age - that it automatically denies her entry from heaven (if there is such a thing) ???

Yea right dude. I refuse to believe that garbage.
