I got evicted last week from "WHAT I THOUGHT" was the best apartment in town.

I cried for hours finally yesterday when it got confirmed. I missed the bejeebers out of my old neighborhood and my nearby friends.

But, what I was TRYING to realize and it took HOURS to realize was what I AM moving into is absolutely STUNNING!

Marble and Corian hardtop countertops and Cherry Wood cabinets. gold on all levers, faucets, showerhead and even towel rack in bathroom, includes BIDET in BOTH bathrooms even, just like EUROPE!

Marble surrounded Roman Jacuzzi in another bathroom. Three hots a day every dang day. Clothes and everything washed every week or so. I couldn't believe it.

Makes me think "HOW did I EVAR love this little bachelor suite downtown here?" And HOW did I ever really love the neighborhood even?

I simply answer myself, every hour I ask myself these questions with "That is ALL you KNEW!"

You know, if you don't know any different, HOW can you really question a different life?

When you practically "grew up" with "it" you never really question it very often.

Dumb me. I could never imagine an apartment as OK as mine with nice people here. I thought I had the best in town. No, the thing I am moving to is NOT Club Fed. It is an Independent Living home where the hots are made and the cleaning is done for you.

I dumbly cannot believe I ever loved the little SHACK I am in til the 30th of Sept. I honestly WONDER how could I have ever loved it. Well, it was ALL I KNEW!

I did not KNOW that I was going to suddenly go UP the social ladder so hard and fast.

Congratulations and welcome to your new, BETTER home.

    Sounds very cool -

what would I have to do to get an Italian marble jacuzzi? Omigod - what wouldn't I do?

(and I have lived in so many crap one and two room apartments on the wrong side of town that I would rather jump off the bridge than ever go back).

... but where I live the jacuzzi is public in the pool/club house area.

... and the only hots I get are from my stove.

    You got it going on!

    Enjoy!

Dang rights! This was all from a HORRENDOUS error. I somehow got kicked out for not the cleanest apartment in a FRICKING HOVEL and WON into this home.

Funny, from bottom rags to RICHES beyond my wildest dreams. NO Nothing to do with geo arbitrage at all. Was what I thought was a BIG ass Mistake.

I sure didn't like to move at the VERY outset. Oh, sure, I am still in the same city, just another area. I can still take the bus to my old neighborhood to visit the old friends from the last 16 years.

Once I get really settled in the "mansion", I won't really remember y I cried about the old hovel, oh yes, HOVEL I am leaving. The old place is truly forgettable, if you ask me. The new place, I will never forget as long as I live.

It really is like night and day.

Why is it I get the feeling this is not a "mansion" you are personally paying for?

Devon I'm glad you have a place to live that you like.
But to follow up a little on Kay's post are the Independent Care Homes in Canada government sponsored or do you have to pay rent to live there?
I ask because the one my older brother was in before he died was like renting a room with meals, laundry, etc. included.

The people at my new place are not likely A-holes that scream all day and night like downtown here at all. A kid across the alley seems to scream 16 out of 24 hours a day, it seems. And punks and drunks in the alley and street yell all the time. This is at my old place that I was kicked out of.

Just as well. I am getting older and it is getting more on my nerves, the behavior of all of the "toilet" around me. Wailing sirens all day and night and screaming people at any old hour.

I was so upset the first 4 days when I was initially evicted, because this here was all I knew. I never knew any new place and NEVER in a billion years questioned anything. I cried even more when the move was confirmed because I KNEW I was leaving what I know, like when little kids move and leave things they know.

That is ALL OVER! I am firmly set on the new move and cannot WAIT to get out of this apartment. Could NOT give a real rats behind about this apartment any MORE.

Finally moved in. I miss the old Pub nearby and coffee shop. Thankfully, today I showed my parents the pub today that I am known at for going there to have coffee a few times a day. I even hugged my friend waitress, letting her know I MISSED her to death. Felt SO GOOD to just have a ciggie on the Patio like old times.

Other than that, I am pleased here in the fancy new home. I miss only the pub and the other coffee shop there. F### the old apartment block. What I DON'T miss are the VERY HIGH prices of goods, hunger and a stupidly small Mac's C-store. Those were awful riduculous.

The new home is BEAUTIFUL. I get 3 VERY GOOD Balanced meals a day, which I NEVER got in the old crumbhole apt. I just didn't know what real quality living was like, and even on sane banker hours, not partyer hours even. The Klein's C-store at the oppisite end of this very block is GREAT.
