Have you seen the new Skinny Disney Characters?

Ever since I saw them, I have been wondering, "What would Joe have to say about this?"

Personally, I hate them!

Looking at the thumbnail makes me sick. I'm not even hitting the "play" button. Alright, I'll hit it...

THEY'RE USING IT TO RUIN CHRISTMAS TOO!?

That's it, I'm going to New York. You don't f*** with Disney while ruining the self esteem of people everywhere and get away with it. Not on my watch...

      I know!

Those skinny imposters not only ruin every childhood memory of the whole family sitting down together around the TV with popcorn or ice cream on Sunday evenings, but totally take away every endearing quality those cute Disney Characters had!

How in the heck can they teach valuable life lessons looking like that?

They aren't going to make children feel good anymore, they're going to teach them to hate their bodies or feel like they're less because they aren't deathly skinny or wearing high fashion!

What the heck were they thinking?

Oh yeah, obviously they weren't thinking about anything except lining their pockets.

I hope it backfires on them!

I expect it to, kids aren't going to recognize those characters. Those of us who know are (rightfully) probably going to be disgusted by it.

I wonder if T-Bird showed those skinny renditions to his little guy, if he would recognize them. Interesting case study.

Well that is if his son knows the originals.

          Oh, T-Bird....

  • Great - now instead of the cartoon "Animaniacs" - what are they going to have... "Anorexiacs"?

Goofy's face and ears look just close enough that he could probably be recognized. Daisy and Minnie though? Not even close. So weird.

You know what? You're right, there is enough resemblance to the original Goofy for probable identification.

But Minnie and Daisy? It's like they're zombies, they've risen from the dead and are gonna come and get me!

Creepy scary! Like Sal says, nightmare material!

They kind of remind me of Jack Skellington from a Nightmare Before Christmas. All spindly and evil looking.

              Bingo!
THAT is why they looked strangely familiar........

I agree. There should only be one Jack and that's the problem: they have the other characters trying to be like him.

I think it's stupid for one simple reason:

They aren't friendly and funny looking like the real Disney characters. Disney is feel good humor - not fawning fashionistas.

If Walt had come up with those instead of Mickey - we probably wouldn't recognize the name "Disney" today.

Not exactly politically correct, are they? I mean sure we are a bit over-indulgent at the table in the U.S. but this is nuts! Who would want their kids to have those stick figures as a model for what they should look like? If Disney really approved that, they should be ashamed.

Those are some scary looking characters. I bet kids never used to have nightmares from Disney - but if they loose those things on young minds, they will. I guess the new artists there have decided it's time to take the innocence out of Disney.

Like Goofy wasn't skinny enough in the first place?

I agree - Goofy isn't that bad. Minnie and Daisy are just nightmare scary, though.

If I were walt disney I would SUE anyone doing this with my characters. I feel HE would do the SAME!

But the people there NOW often just care about money, and these characters are merely an old nostalgic item they feel they should milk in ANY way.

    Heysal,

You are right. These things could give kids NIGHTMARES! There are probably only like 4 ways to make a monster. One of the four ways is to change the ratios. Look at some of Tim Burton's films that use it. It's so much easier than the deforming, augmenting, or just odd things that may also be done.

Disney once created a secondary company to handle the non family friendly stuff and they just didn't keep the intent.
