Nahhh, it'll be the usual, usual.

        Looks good on the surface.

        And it will be...

        ...amazing. But...

        But...

Not worth driving backwards 750 miles for.

        Thanks anyway.

        Kindest regards,

        Mark Andrews

I was born over that way, have lived Down Under for over 30 years with just one visit back home. My mother's family are from Ballachulish. Your pics are making me envious, and even more determined to take my kiddies there for a visit. Just need to wait til they're a little older and can come trail running with me.

    I'm jealous!!

We were in Scotland for 2 weeks back in April and absolutely fell in love with the place. Drove 1700 miles in the 2 weeks, took lots of photos, met some really fun people and can't wait to get back one day.

  • It's Party Time in Scotland! Murray Wins U.S. Open!

Andy Murray has won the first Grand Slam title of his career, besting defending U.S. Open champion Novak Djokovic in an instant Flushing Meadows classic that stretched five sets and nearly as many hours. Murray's U.S. Open triumph makes him the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles crown since Fred Perry captured the 1936 U.S. Championships at Forest Hills.

A friend of mine died of brain cancer last month. She was from Scotland but don't remember exactly where. She said she had hoped she could "go home" once more - looking at those images I know why she wanted to see it again so badly.

Very intermittent Internet at the moment Audrey.

A few hours after you posted your message, I was in Ballachulish. Actually stayed for the night in a lay-by in Onich just up the road a couple of miles.

Now on the Isle of Skye...

70 miles driving today just to find a spot where I could connect to the Internet. Nothing in Portree. Nothing in Uig. Nowt in Dunvegan. Now back close to where I started from with a good connection.

Must get lots of work done tomorrow, some major catching up.

Weather, cold squally Atlantic torrential horizontal downpours with intermittent sunshine. Got the heater on full blast now, 3 pairs of socks, long johns, 5 layers up top and wrapped up in my duvet in the back of the van near Moll...

Was up in Loch Lomond last week, stayed at the Arrochar Hotel right on the side of Loch Long - views to die for too.

Enjoy your stay and yes I agree, it is like being in Heaven.

          Peace and tranquility.
It's mind blowingly beautiful here, just absolutely stunning!

          I'm speechless. For once.

          WOW!!!

Hey just read remember the Dunblane school massacre in what 1996? Tom ...... I didn't know Andy Murray was there that day. Wow! Apparently he know the guy as he was a kiddies scout leader or sometihng and his mum gave that guy lifts to school. Just think how close he was to never fulfilling his dreams.. But that was a horrible event. About 16 school kids shot dead....CRAZY PEOPLE!

Like being in a washing machine today, almost hurricane force winds, very difficult driving conditions like driving through a river for 3 hours solid.

      Rain? Absolutely torrential.

Wind? Howling. Like a wild shrieking ghostly banshee high as a kite on acid.

Helped out a young couple from Germany who were finding it impossible to cycle their way to Portree 10 miles north.

Found them both by the side of the road trying to take shelter from being swept off their feet, cold, shivering but still in good humour.

Piled them both and their bikes and rucksacks into the back of the van, warmed them up by my gas fire, made them both steaming hot mugs of tea and gave them both a lift even though it was in the opposite direction to that which I wanted to go.

My good deed for the day.

It was the sort of day when the waterfalls were virtually trying to commit suicide leaping off the sides of the mountain slopes onto the road below but the full force of all the water not quite making it to ground level before being swept up into the air in this frenzy of spray and water hurtling at you from every direction lol.

Weather had changed very quickly from the day before which was absolutely beautiful.

More on that on another thread.

      Chin chin!

Intermittent sunshine and heavy showers with frequent rainbows as I look over the loch towards the island of Scalpay near Glas Bhein Mhorn.
