....You really do. The witty jokes I see about on this forum is excellent. I love the sense of humour here on this forum, the community seems relaxed but on point, helpful and sincere.

Which is why I wanted to jump aboard and get involved.

For a few years now I have gained a lot of knowledge from this forum - but I have never became part of the community and I have never given back to it. Well, my moral stance simply will not allow my physical body to get away with that - I simply had to join up and get involved with this beautiful community and give something back to the forum that helped my growth.

Which, ironically is a smashing marketing tactic employed by a vast majority of businesses, multiple times:

"If you give something away to a customer for free, by good nature they feel to give something to you"

Essentially nothing is free in this world. This is debatable but regardless I am using it to illustrate a point.

If you observe the businesses which you come into contact with every day, from your local food store to where you buy your clothes, from the place you buy your car to the provider who delivers your electric and gas. Often you will see, on more than one occasion, these companies giving you something for nothing (seemingly) or atleast something for very little.

The reason plays on the emotion I mentioned above. Good natured people feel compelled to give something back if you give them something.

(There are other reasons of course, but for the benefit of this post, we will focus on this point)

So Warrior's! Do yourself a favour and give away some gifts. Not just gifts for your current customers and potential new customers, give some gifts to the people you love, family, friends and co-workers. You will amazed at the magic a thoughtful gift can do.

Now for my second point.... Headlines. Made you look? Good. Learn from that

Anyway this is me. I use the alias "Knowlij" for my online ventures. It is a new alias which I am currently growing so (God Willing) you will be seeing and hearing more from me in the near future.

I would really like to get involved and help out where I can and to get to know you guys and girls a little better - I love people who share common interests with me. (Not that I don't love people with different interests).

I am a brackets user. I hear we are a rare and funny breed.

And sometimes I hear that talking too much about yourself is a bad thing, so I'll end it here.

I look forward to hearing back from you Warrior's,

Peace,
Knowlij

    Hi Knowlij,

I have to agree with the headlines part as you can post a catchy title in the main discussion part of the forum.

The thread can last for days on end if you focus on catching the eye of the fellow warriors and make it interesting.

Also a little sense of humor goes a long way here too.

You can get great traffic from posting catchy but thought provoking threads that give value and encourage others to share their thoughts and ideas.

Good post and good headline thanks and all the best!!!

I am not so sure giving away product is the way to go anylonger becuase all you get on your list is freebie seekers I think. I guess it depends on what type of business you are building. If you doing it on the hopes of a pay out in the future from offline consulting, boot camps, webinars etc, then maybe, so, but, if you are strictly selling online digital products then I am not so sure anymore. This trend has come about fairly recently over the last year or two(close to two years- 3 months away till 2013), so, I am sure there isn't enough data to know for certain if my theory is correct. Though, I have a suspicion it is depending on the business model.

Speaking as a former freebie seeker, I would like to politely disagree with you. In the beginning of my online ventures, I often searched high and low for the best free offerings. I did this because I was broke and couldn't afford any of the paid products. However, once I began to make some money and grow my online business, those companies which had provided me with the best freebies were the same companies I turned to when I needed paid products and services. They were at the top of my list. Even if someone doesn't become a paid customer right away, you have earned their loyalty in the future. They will trust you and appreciate you and that WILL oftentimes turn into a profit for you, even if you must be patient for a while first.

Hello and welcome to participating on the forum. I enjoyed this post and look forward to what else you have to offer.

I agree totally with the headline statement and also with the idea of giving something away.

There is much more involved in giving than can easily be discussed in a forum post in my opinion.

The most successful, wealthiest and happiest people I know are go givers!

Those who thithe without expecting anything in return are always rewarded by multiple times over.

But I believe it has to be giving from the correct perspective and from your first fruits or the best you have.

In the internet marketing or making money arena, I've heard from many successful people how you should give your very best.

I have applied this idea my entire life and I've never wanted for anything for very long before it came into my life.

    Again, welcome. :-)

Thank you all for your warm welcomes and kind words.

That video is too much, the gif animation is pretty funny too LOL.

I also disagree that your if you give away freebies, your list will be freebie seekers. The idea of giving away something free is still used today by some of the worlds leading brands to get people to sample their product.

There are several psychologys behind the marketing methods success. The first I mentioned in a previous post: if you give something to somebody, their own good nature makes them feel compelled to give something back in return.

Other aspects of the success of this method are many. For example: giving gifts promotes love and nice feelings towards one another. It has been established that most people prefer to buy something from somebody they like.

Additionially, the method works because you are effectively giving away a SAMPLE.

What I mean here is, if you are going to give away some junk PLR that you purchased for a dollar, written by somebody else and out of date - do not expect it to be overly helpful to your online marketing plan.

However, if YOU write the freebie yourself, make it clear, concise, to the point and packed full of valuable information. Present it cleanly and give it a beautiful cover. Make it a true SAMPLE of YOUR work - it can do wonders for you and your business.

This is the reason multi-million dollar companies such as "Dove" the skincare product range, still give out freebies.

They give away for free a small sample sized bottle of their hair or skin care products - knowing full well that there are those "freebie seekers" out there.

The logic is that somebody looking for a freebie, or somebody who spots the give away and takes advantage of it, will get their product, love it, and then buy it in future.

Dove can afford to give away samples of their product because they have an amazing product.

Therefor, by the same reasoning, if YOU have amazing products, and your give-aways are merely a sample of your products - you will achieve great success with this tried and tested method.

But, as with anything I teach or anything you hear from anybody else: never blindly follow - don't even blindly follow a guru or a scholar. Try and test it for yourself and always think for yourself.

    Peace,
    Knowlij

P.S: Shame this has been moved to the off-topic forum? I think it contains some pretty solid "general internet marketing discussion", ah well it's up to the mods, move it back if you think it would be helpful or useful

    Hi, and welcome!

I think that freebies need to be carefully thought out. We provide a service, and can't "give" away that service to hook people, or our actual paying customers would suffer. We have offered a "free with" as in if you pay for an amount of services, we'll tack on something extra and not charge. This keeps out the freebie seekers and also rewards our paying customers.

If I had a "product" I would offer a sample or a snipit of the complete package to hook a few people in though.

Again, welcome, and your headline worked
