Social Networking Takes On A Whole New Meaning

Just saw a news story on Channel 7 about brain surgery being performed
while people on Twitter looked in and asked questions of the surgeons
while the surgery was performed.

What I find most amazing about this whole thing is that the guy they
performed the surgery on agreed to this.

So what's next? People being able to Twitter in at our funerals?

Makes you wonder just where social networking is going to lead us in the
future.

And what will marketers do to take advantage of it?

Interesting thoughts. Let's hope funerals are avoided!

This kind of goes along with something I read (linked to from a Twitter post!) at 6 Reasons Why Twitter is the Future of Search - Google Beware

    Is Twitter taking over?

Funerals? That's a few days too late.

People are twittering as people are loosing their lives...

Absolutely disgusting, but it was getting information out quickly.

This comes to me as a surprise, even though I've read about how popular Twitter is becoming.

Did the surgeons take time out from their operation to respond? Or were the people sending messages actually in the room, asking the questions face-to-face?

I expect eventually kids will no longer go to school because school will come to them at home, over the internet and they'll talk back and forth with the teacher using Twitter...imagine the money governments would save by not needing to build and maintain school buildings, no heating or air needed, no need to worry about having enough desks for the influx of new students because of higher and higher birth rates, etc.

And I would suspect we'd have more anti-social children becoming anti-social teenagers who kill everyone at McDonalds or KFC, just because it seemed like it would be fun.
