Why Don't Sellers On Craigslist Reply?

I'm a bit of a self confessed hoarder so when i see a really good deal on Craigslist i am always tempted.
The one thing that gets me though is that many times the seller does not reply to email or txt?

Understandably the item could be sold or seller can be incommunicado, but i'm talking no reply after 48 hours and a few attempts and the item get's relisted/renewed, so it's not sold.

This happens on eBay also but not nearly as often as Craigslist...

As a seller, sometimes I don't respond if the buyer's message is incoherent, too short or doesn't provide enough information. That's up to interpretation, of course. I can't speak for other sellers though. That's just me.

    salesguru,
There are a lot of fake ads on CL where the people are just trying to get your email addy.

I had to tell my wife to make a email address for when she answers ads on there that doesn't contain personal information, because the every day email she uses is her real name.

Heads-up ladies and gentlemen, there is gold in the quote below.

I would recommend that you have a couple of throw-away email addresses.

I would also extend that to a throw-away phone numbers and Skype ID's.

      But that just me.

By throw-away I mean that I clean them out before I use them. Make a Craigslist posting for example. Then when I'm done, I just let them fill up with spam or whatever until the next time I need them.

I think they do a lot. However, if they don't... then maybe they don't want to sell anymore. Maybe it's already sold. Maybe they think you are a scammer or fake. It is hard to say.

    Joe,
I was thinking of getting a line just for that purpose,to have a throw away phone number.
I never thought about skype, but that might be a good idea too.

Google voice. You can do a bunch of stuff with it. Price... $0.00. You can have 1 with each Gmail account if I remember correctly.

        Hey there

Just sold this to someone else, but I can tell you where I got it from.

I just purchased 3 of these from pennyhunters and I resold them on here for some extra money.

The trick is to watch for bidding to slow down and then put in a bid. That's what I do and I win most of the time.

        Regards

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

If you use Google Voice (Free) you can create all the free phone numbers you want, then redirect any incoming calls from multiple free phone numbers to your real phone number (cell, etc...).

It's been a while since I used Google Voice but I guess it still works. When I did use GV it worked really well & even included texting from your PC & receiving text message into your GV account. Very nice setup considering it's free.

BTW, on GV you can pick local numbers (free & anonymous).
