"For now, police have declined to detain Massman, saying she is nine months pregnant."

That is hilarious. The thieves didn't even think to look at the dates on the coins, or weren't aware that some coins are worth far more than face value? Their stupidity far exceeds even their dishonesty

FORGET the date, mint mark, or even the weird patterns! HOW did they know the value without looking at the coins? Didn't they notice that they were treated special and made out of an odd material? I mean COME ON!

If I were king, I would jail the girlfriend also, and the bond would be AT LEAST $1MILLION! And what difference does it make if she is pregnant? OBVIOUSLY we pay either way. Better to get them off the streets. After all, a $100K coin collection could be undervalued, and they may have stolen more, and there is loss of possession. Suppose they just lined up someone to buy the coins for $200K?

BTW a top value high quality coin can be devalued(A LOT! I mean by potentially $100s of thousands!) merely by HANDLING it(If it contains copper, iron, silver, etc...) or using it(ESPECIALLY if it contains GOLD)! THAT is why so many use gloves, and put them in plastic cases, etc.... So it is unlikely the owners will ever REALLY get their coins back!

Look at the MS ratings here!

PCGS.com - PCGS Coin Grading Standards

And a change in pattina or scratch is IMPOSSIBLE to fix! The standard way to "fix" it is by dipping the coin. SURE, the coin ends up looking BEAUTIFUL! It may even look BRAND NEW! But just doing THAT devalues the coin! The WANT the coin to have its original state with normal patina.

Perhaps the pizza had bacon on it.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

The possibility cannot be overlooked. I've done...I mean other people have done some crazy things for bacon covered pizza.

          Yep...Maybe even Canadian bacon too.

You can put bacon on a pizza, but I don't recommend putting a pizza on bacon.

          Therefore: Pizza > Bacon

  • What gets me, is they were already accused of stealing it - so they had to know it was worth more than face value...did they think these people were just 'neat freaks' and store their loose change in special cases instead of a jar?

They may also have been stupid enough to think, instead of getting caught trying to pawn it or sell it - let's just get rid of it as 'normal change'...I mean the guy at the pizza place won't notice a 1903 silver dollar or anything...it will blend right in...

Or they were just stupid, or didn't care about the real value, and just wanted to spend it, to get revenge on the rich old lady they stole it from!

I have seen this sort of thing before, l had a friend that knew someone, (just like these idiots) who worked for a supermarket for a year or so, and then took the $5000 he had earned and burned it!

God knows why, getting back at rich people, because he was bored, just wanted to do it, to see what it would look like?

Your guess is as good as mine...

usually youth, a broken home and boredom can create extreme stupidly!!!

When I was looking for that image, I came across another one that had a comment indicating the subjects in the photo were just "plane" stupid.

I guess they knew very little about airplanes.
