It depends where are you get traffic from and that's it.
For some google works better for other - yahoo.

I wonder what the physical side of the google machine is like - all we ever see is the software interface.

But how many servers have they got / What kind of super computer hardware are they experimenting with etc ?

Anybody got some links ?

For search and email there's no question, Google wins. I mean, sometimes it's hard to even get an email delivered to a Yahoo inbox even after you've jumped through all their hoops with SPF, DomainKeys and all the other anti-spam goodness.. Gmail just works (for me anyway).. lol

As far as who I like better as a company, that's a toss-up because to me that kind of goes beyond just the products and services they give us. I realize that Google's "don't be evil" philosophy may have gone out the window the moment they went public (happens with most companies that have investors to answer to), but they do a lot of good for the opensource community and I appreciate that. Summer of Code is a great way for college students to get some hands-on learning experience. When I lived in Santa Monica, one thing I really loved about Yahoo was the fact that half of their Santa Monica property was a park that the company maintained and kept open to the public.. nice way of giving something back to the community.

I like google for their mail service Gmail. But if i need to choose anyone from this as a search engine i would like to prefer yahoo. Because i don't know though google is rich search engine but i feel comfort searching via yahoo search engine.

I personally use Google because the search results seem to be more relevant to what I am searching for. I honestly haven't visited Yahoo! in years when searching, so the relevancy of their results may have improved...feel free to correct me if you feel otherwise!

  I like Google. Yahoo is to much of a cluttered mess for me. Google's interface is clean and easy to use. There isn't all those annoying news links and what not, its just simple. I also agree that google searches are much more relevant when it comes to results.

I use BING!

It reminds me of the scene in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" where they have the machine that goes BING! and every time it goes BING! it means the baby is still alive.

Besides, I just like to say BING! It's a great thing to say. BING! Doesn't that just put a smile on your face? BING! How can you not love that? It's awesome.
