Interesting video!

Really weird to see the sun with a black sky, (or space) around it!

And if you are wondering he used After Effects and Photoshop to bring the face to life!

Certainly brings up some cool, cheap ways to get into space! He should contact Richard Branson, who knows?

      80,000' isn't space.

      It's just high up.

      Hence the view.

Yep, you are right, a satellite would need to reach at least 150kms to stay in orbit for a few weeks! But it would need to reach 300km,s to stay there indefinitely!

If l remember correctly this is getting 18km,s up, still a long way to go!

I was hoping that it was in the ball park, so only a little more effort would be required!

Sounds like a decent size rocket, (half a metre?) and plenty of balloons that would be busted at the same time, might work, to get a small mobile based satellite into orbit?

I would personally put some HD cameras on board and try to pick up something cool or hidden on Earth, etc!

Nope. They'd expand too much and burst very quickly in the thin atmosphere.

I actually posted up a video similar to the ones in this thread ages ago. Even though one is really only 'touching' space at the very low end it's still a great thing to do. And has a lot of marketing potential too. Often thought about doing one myself but that will have to wait until I'm in Europe. Far too much sea where I'm at presently for a safe recovery to be expected.

          Warmest regards,

Arrgh, no, what l meant to say is someone could put a rocket with satellite onto a platform, surround it with balloons, and send it up; so when it reaches 17.5km,s, the iphone, custom made app, bursts the balloons at the same time, so the rocket could ignite and get the mini satellite over the 150km,s threshold!

Could get your own satellite into orbit for a few thousand!

Yeah, l am no rocket scientist, (sorry couldn't resist using that one) l didn't really want to go with the other option of creating a Richard Branson type setup.

Go to all the trouble of creating a drone that could launch a rocket, etc.

Hmmmm, may have to keep my feet on the ground, and stay with cameras and balloons!
