An 11 year-old boy has discovered the carcass of a 30,000 year-old mammoth in the far north of Russia. Scientists say such finds are very rare and claim it is the second best-preserved mammoth ever discovered in the history of paleontology.

      They are pretty sure of that one now. They think we coexisted up until around 25K years ago. Who knows if pockets of them existed longer? There is folklore that a neanderthal-like being still roams around out around the Tibetian plateau.

      They died out because they were unable to communicate at the same level as the other sapiens (us, that is) were able to. So we basically wiped em out. Humans really are not the most tolerant of life forms type of species.

    wow, what a lucky little boy.

    I remember being that age, when ever i dug a hole for some thing, i
    was always hoping i would find a dinosaur.

    Ha, i even remember my mom scamming me and my brothers,
    she wanted the soil flipped for the garden, she told us to
    look for buried arrows, then showed us where and how to do it.
