Hello

Does anybody know what is the term for a really good eyesight?
20X20 or 6X6 or maybe something else?

It is called 20/20 vision, metric would be 6/6 vision but most people do not use the second version in day to day conversions, so stick to the first one.

It varies from country to country.

"20/20" means that you can read at a distance of 20 feet what a person with perfect eyesight can read at a distance of 20 feet.

"6/6" means that you can read at a distance of 6 metres what a person with perfect eyesight can read at a distance of 6 metres.

6 metres is just a few inches under 20 feet, of course, so they're direct equivalents. It just depends whether or not you're using metric measurements. Many/most countries that formerly used "20 feet" have now switched to "6 meters". So "20/20" is pretty old-fashioned, these days. Personally, I'd stick to the second one.

I find this very interesting indeed.

In my personal experience, I have never heard of the term 6/6 at all, ever, until just now.

It is so common to hear 20/20 used in not only describing one's vision, but in sayings like "hind site is 20/20". If I heard someone say hind site is 6/6, I would have thought the were being facetious, lol!

So perhaps it would depend on what country you're from or speaking to when using the "perfect vision" term?
