Just Donated Clothes to Big Brothers

We just donated clothes to Big Brother. The harvest my wife gave away is really good, several almost-new pairs of leather boots, leather shoes, a 100% soft leather jacket, a multitude of name-brand shirts, jackets would run into thousands of dollars (I know since originally paid for it all), while the value of my clothes that I could scrounge would be minimal since what I wear was cheap to begin with (eg from Army surplus stores and whatnot) and I tend to wear them until they literally fall apart.

Big Brother? Must not mean the same here as it does there.

I don't buy expensive either - a lot of my pants and shirts I buy second hand. Can't see paying 5 times as much for something that looks like new. I buy jeans for 5 - 10 bucks that would cost 50 in a retail store. There are things that you don't want to "thriftshop" for like lingerie or shoes, but if you can get a good looking, warm 200 dollar coat for 10 bucks, why would anyone pay the 200? Models often do most of their shopping second hand then have things altered if they don't fit perfectly. Even some super-models have stated that the wardrobe they need in their career would not be possible at retail or designer prices.

As for donating - if it's still in one piece when you are done with it, you have to like to shop more than I do. I hate to shop anywhere at anytime so I will get all the way down to two pairs of pants left before I'll go buy another supply of them. Shopping is a boring waste of time.

I absolutely agree with your last sentence.

The double meaning did occur to me and I involuntarily donate to that big brother too, every time I have to use an ATM or pay a cell phone bill. But, This is the Big Brother I am talking about, LOL:

My wife is superstitious and afraid that people have have died in used clothes and ghosts might inhabit them, so won't buy them.

But if they are designer threads it might be a RICH ghost with good tips on investments.

They are a great organization to donate to. I've called them up before too. They always have trucks going around and will pick up any clothes and sometimes other stuff too. Good on ya for doing that, more people should!
