Not sure how many of our younger Warriors remember this political figure but he just passed. He was one of the old school good guys and I'm really sorry to see him go.

If you didn't like him - don't trash him here, just bid him adieu.

RIP George.

Why do they always die so young?

I've heard of him (but I have a particular interest in 20th Century political history). He ran for President against Nixon, didn't he?

      RIP.

I think it's sad that part of his legacy will be that he only won MA and DC in
1972. I remember watching the election results that year. I was a couple of
weeks short of my 15th birthday.

I was too young to really have an opinion of him either way, but he seemed like
      an alright guy to me.

He had a long life. I hope it was a good one for him.

I remember him well as my parents often spoke of him, and I wish him God Speed.

40 years ago, almost to the day, my social studies class had a 3 day debate over who should be president, McGovern or Nixon.

The first day, the class was divided into 3 groups, for Nixon, for McGovern and undecided.

There were about 12 people for Nixon, another 12 undecided. There were only two for McGovern, my best friend and I. By the end of the debate, we had won over virtually the entire class, with only a couple still for Nixon.

It was one of the highlights of my school years and I've always had a found memory of McGovern since. Too bad he didn't have my friend and I leading his campaign, he would have beaten Nixon in a landslide.

As history turned out with Watergate, I wonder how many people would change their vote if they could? I feel even stronger in my support of McGovern after all these years because of it.
