U.S. billionaire urges Michigan voters to reject free bridge to Canada

OK - this is a political post - because it does involve a vote in the state of Michigan...so I don't know if it will fly or not...(my apologies to the mods - if you kill it, I will understand)

But this seems so patently stupid, I can't understand it

Canada wants to give Michigan (cash strapped Detroit) a new FREE bridge, that they will pay for in full?

But the guy down the street who makes 80 million dollars a year on his toll bridge (and who is a billionaire) thinks that is 'unfair'...

Opinions? and please try to keep them apolitical

I could say so much, but alas, it would be political, me being from Michigan and all.

Hmm, let me just say that the campaigning done on behalf of "let the people decide" is no different than many hyped up sales pages written by copywriters that know how to move people with emotion, how to tug on heart strings causing them to think with their emotional side rather than the logical side of their brains.

There. I think I avoided politics.

It's pretty ridiculous really... Michigan can greately benefit from our friends to the North.
It's a lot of money for sure, maybe roughly into the billions to build a structure of that size however it's gotta be done.

Canada's wanting to impose an avenue of access to United States is an act of aggression, and the United States should go to war with Canada over it.

A free bridge in Michigan? Jeez - it's been so long since I've traveled the bridges there already that I didn't realize they were toll. When I was a kid you didn't need a passport to get across them.
