When I feel burned out, so in other words..rarely.

That does not mean I don't go on trips and enjoy myself, it just means I rarely completely shut down for more than 1 or 2 days at a time, I get really antsy wanting to play.

Great answer. I also move away, but I always keep an eye of my websites.

Even while I'm overseas, I'll spend at least an hour each day "working."

It's not "work" to me.. It's more like personal-time, relax time or having a little fun. I love what I do and that's why I don't mind "working" even while I'm oversea.

I often take a week or two and travel to exotic locations.

I even spent 30 days last year sitting on the beach in
the Philippines... however, I have to admit that I took my
laptop along and logged in frequently.

So, maybe these aren't real holidays, in which case I haven't
really had once in the past 16 years

My work often feels like play.

We take 1-2 weeks usually in Feb. when things are super slow for us. There is no hope of a summer vacation.

I take holidays whenever I have made enough profit, whenever I have no current urgent responsibilities or technical issues to worry about (regarding my business), whenever it's warm enough (for traveling), whenever I feel tired enough because of work and need to recharge my batteries (then it's a "must do", otherwise I can still take work-related pressure)...

If all of the above coincide, I take a holiday!

I used to do IM full time, things changed. I hardly had a vacation over few days. The type of business I was in, wasn't the type you can take break off

Wow, if you are currently looking for a vacation free time, I am quite the opposite. I am just starting out in IM as a side job. Consequently, many have free time. I just hope to be as busy as you.

I live on a holiday place near the beach.
But I work very hard every day and don't take too much holiday to relax, and when I'm travelling I make sure that I would have internet, because it is my life and I can leave it more than a week.
At the moment I'm back to France for seeing the family and it's cool.

I used to never take vacations without being online at least for a few hours per day. As I got a little older and started a family, I now find it necessary to take vacations/trips about every few months and completely turn off.

Attending/speaking at IM conferences what seemed like every other week used to be my vacations and it was rock star, but my family, body and business can no longer take that, all require me now to turn off every once in a while!

So, I now attend either an IM or business conference about 2-3 times per year and pick and choose wisely and completely shut off on a vacation about 6 times per year.

I tend to take the weekends off at the least and maybe a weekday or 3 off since I don't really have to do too much work anymore.

I can't wait to do my biz full time! I work FT and run my biz PT for NOW, and I take a day off only when I feel mentally exhausted or when things just aren't flowing....when it gets like that, such as yesterday, I take the rest of the day off and re-energize myself.

One day a week, and one week each quarter. That's about the best I can manage.

    Whenever I want.

I like many got into this industry for the freedom. A lot of people start IM for this reason but seem to forget it further down the line becoming slaves, instead of enjoying the rewards of 'being your own boss'.
