Hurricane Sandy - Is Nature Shaking It's Fist At US!?

I woke up this morning and had a thought to myself.

What if this hurricane Sandy is natures way of saying....

HEY MORONS!!....WAKE UP!...stop polluting.

Before you think I am starcraving mad, please hear me out.

What if the BP oil spill, and pollution from the NY and coastline factories are having an impact on nature, and nature has had enough of it. And is finally lashing out and telling us that this pollution and selfishness cannot go on?

This is a very historical superstorm, and it has even closed the stockmarket for a few days, an event that has not happend for centuries.

What if nature is sick of brokers and financial pundits profiteering while the pollution goes on. Maybe nature is angry and upset with us. Has bad feelings towards the human race. Maybe even Neptune wants to start "wiping out all the factories on the shorelines around the world that are dumping poison into the oceans"."

Maybe this storm has been directed, directly to cities, or smaller inner sanctums which are the worst offenders...which probably does make sense. Those that have factories, or industries that are doing the wrong thing and dumping pollution into the ocean?

Maybe this is a warning sign, for a bigger event that could be coming...to really wipe these companies and factories....literally right off the map!!! Natures way of saying...if you wont fix or STOP THIS...then we will!!!

Just FOOD for THOUGHT!!

Celente - you're not that far off the mark. There's a lot more oil still leaking in the gulf than they are admitting. The water at the bottom is too heavy to flow normally and has stagnated, changing water currents globally - which means the Southern Oscillation is all screwed up. So.............yeah - nature is pissed off.

I would like to change the topic slightly and send my best wishes to all who are affected by this horrendous storm. I live in Australia and am very grateful when I hear stories about such epic catastrophes.

    Food for thought? Possibly.

If so, then the question is... Nutritious food or junk food for thought?

Really is just an opened ended question really. Maybe I am being stupid, or maybe not. But dont you get angry when that bald headed guy takes his dog for a walk and it takes a dump in your front yard, and then you watch them both walk off!!!:p

I need a source for that one - it's totally contrary to the studies being done here on the coast. WHO says there is a lot of oil leaking or that the water is "too heavy"?

There was a sheen of oil that was coming from one of the huge caps used to try to stop the 2010 spill - that cap has now been plugged and leak stopped. It wasn't from the original site.

Don't forget - speech is free. There are always some who use a natural disaster as a way to promote their own core beliefs. Doesn't make them right - and often makes them look less than credible.

Giving nature a "mind" is ridiculous. If lack of pollution would guarantee a perfect environment - the dinosaurs would still be around.

takes his dog for a walk and it takes a dump in your front yard, and then you watch them both walk off
I've found most who get really bent out of shape over such a minor incident usually put a lot of chemicals on their lawn - waste water to keep it green....and then charge the dog with pollution.

I don't think that Celente was being belligerent about the people being effected by the storm. I think she was upset that it is going on and raging over what she sees as reasons why. We definitely do ourselves no favors on this planet.

To all effected - we hope the best for you and hope you are able to recover solidly.

Don't have time to find them all, but got enough to start you investigating instead of just listening to what you feel are "official" reports. How much truth do you think you're going to get about a deadly neurotoxin washing up on your shores and sinking into the ground where it can contaminate drinking water? Some scientists predicting 40 million to be effected in the long run. I don't have time to look that one back up right now, but it's something you might want to google around for a little bit. If I lived there, I'd sure be doing more research than listening to a global organization telling me everything is honky dory.

Of course you aren't hearing much about it. Do you think they want you to know exactly how much damage they created?

There are rumors that corexit is still being sprayed. Not sure about that one - but I wouldn't put it past them to continue to hide the fact the oil isn't letting up.

What? Hasn't anyone ever heard of personification in writing? You know, the act of giving inanimate objects living attributes.

The falling leaves danced merrily along in the fall winds.

The sun smiled down on me today and smothered me with kisses.

The windows in the old abandoned farm house glared in warning at would be trespassers.

The trees stood sentinel guarding the helpless animals within from outside predators.

          Well, you get my drift.

Perhaps you better read the forum rules before making any more ridiculous, uncalled for comments like that one.

You totally missed the spirit of the op. It was an attack on the selfishness and destructiveness of those who profit from destroying nature, not on the innocents caught in the crossfire. It may have been a bit dramatic and fanciful, but cooler heads understood the truth of the gist of it; abuse nature badly enough for long enough, and you will eventually experience serious blowback.

Nature is ultimately in charge, and will destroy us, if we keep destroying it, which it seems we are determined to do, thanks to the stubborn greed of a tiny minority. Anyone with basic reasoning ability can deduce that for themselves. You on the other hand, are too busy taking shots at the messenger to see the obvious truth at the core of the message.

Wringing our hands over the tragedy of victims isn't the most compassionate response to this type of event. What would really show compassion in a far more meaningful way, is connecting the dots from our actions to the horrors that we are getting a small taste of, and acting now to spare our descendents far worse events in the coming decades, culminating in an unnecessarily early extinction for humanity.

I don't believe nature "thinks", but it's beyond obvious that cause and effect applies in regard to our draconian alterations of the natural world since the industrial revolution. No rational person could possibly expect that when we massively abuse our home, no negative consequences will occur. The evidence that we are reaping what we sow with every year's new record setting extreme weather events is simply overwhelming.

But it isn't a case of nature getting mad or slapping us, any more than your car is slapping you when the block cracks from running it at 6000rpms with no oil. It is simply cause and effect, which always apply. Too bad the world's richest industry has prioritized their short term profits above the survival of our species a couple of generations down the line.
