Tim Hortons workers file double-double rights complaint - Yahoo! News Canada

This Tim Horton's owner imported employees from Mexico, stuffed them in house, collected rent from them for that, sometimes held their passports, and subjected them to derogatory statements about Mexicans.

I lived in Canada for 3 years. Most people are down to earth, hard working folks. A lot like Americans, I imagine.
Make no mistake, though, Canada is a full flegded, capitalistic slave ship society, especially Alberta.
Everything revolves around work. Most women I met over there had to work 2 or even 3 jobs just to make ends meat.

That Tim Horton's article doesn't surprise me one bit. I seen it first hand at Tim Horton's and especially "Smitty's". They would employ loads of Philippino workers and cram 6 or 7 of them into a 2 bedroom apartment. Needless to say, the flats are usually owned by the restaurant owners.

I'm glad to be back in Europe, crisis and all.

There are differences. For example, Canadians have 3 eyes, while Americans only have two.

It's not much better over here. Almost at 2 Euros for a liter of 95 unleaded.
Try driving one of your Dodge Ram's or Chevy Escalades over here!
You'll be working just to cover your fuel bills. Greedy fukkers.
Income tax is around 40% which doesn't help either.
