Hello my Warrior Forum Friends,

I am Buddy Next Door from MUMBAI INDIA.........I have a small query since past few months...........?! I am new to All these threads and functioning....I couldnt understand where Should I post my query to ...so I considered this Column "The Off Topic"

My question is no where related to offline or online marketing.....I want to know exactly about COURIER SERVICES...across the globe.....

Thing is Since long I thought to sell some physical products clothings etc., online....but the place I get stuck up is the cost of courier companies here in India...

Example I want to sell a product "A" which only cost $5 to $10 -- I want to sell this product online....and my BUYER is from EUROPE or US market....when I approach FedEX guy to know more about the rates he said they charge fix rate of 3500/- indian currency around $60 to $70 ( Fixed amount for minimum or upto Half KG )......now can you tell me how can I afford that..................I mean the product itself is at so low cost that needs to be delivered....I want to be a retailer selling the stuff at a reasonable margin...........but this courier cost.....is huge.............even I checked with our governmental postal service they too charge $10 for minimum or upto Half a KG product.............!!!

SO if I am selling a T-Shirt or Handi Craft Item or say a Traditional ornaments keychains etc., which are hardly weighs in some grams........how can I levy or bear such a big transportation cost...........can anyone suggest me a better IDEA for it.....

Is anyone from you ever involved in this kind of PRODUCT SELLING SERVICE....how can they manage these things..............

After Joining WARRIOR FORUM,I am determined that this service of mine can be marketed online very nicely.........but only problem is how will I deliver my offering across the globe at a economic cost ?!!!!!

Please Please Help me..... you can also send me a personal email at thebuddynextdoor@gmail.com I am dying to hear a SOLUTION friends.

Given the scenario you outlined you can't effectively sell your product in single units unless the customer is willing to pay the shipping. For them to do that, the product would have to be worth the cost of the product and shipping to them. Not likely to happen very often.

Other options might include finding a reseller in the countries you want to ship to who would buy in quantity; or hiring a distribution service in the countries where you want to do business. In the latter case, you'd ship a quantity of products to them and send them the buyers names when you make sales, and they then would ship the items to your customers.

Either scenario would lower your costs, but I don't know if it would be enough to be profitable. A $5 or $10 item is pretty low priced, there isn't much room for other costs.

The only other two things I can suggest is to find a higher priced product to sell, or try to get hooked up with a big company that imports items like Pier 1, Gordmans or some similar company, who will buy in mass quantities.

    Good luck.
