Take that! how to turn the tables on annoying phone-spham!

It just burns me up

I don't know about you, but I get pretty annoyed by
automated voice broadcasting systems. If I hear the
phone ring I feel it's reasonable to expect another
person on the line, not a robot.

These days I get voice-broadcasting spam from car
warranty scammers, mortgage brokers, and network
marketers who somehow perversely think that
unsolicited phone spam is okay.

Look - I don't have a problem with cold-callers. That's
a normal - actually courteous method of business-to-
business marketing.

What really irritates me is when a phone-spammer calls
my business line and leaves a message pretending to be
interested in my products and services.

One such program is IBuzzPro - and I came up with a way
to turn the tables on those phone spammers and give them
a piece of my mind - and kick some serious marketing
butt, too.

Marketing is a game where you get your hands dirty
sometimes. I don't mind hardball - but believe me,
phone-spammers deserve a kick in the ass.

Here's what I've started doing: I go to there website,
opt-in, and then send 'em this email:

"I was wondering if you could check out my business
and tell me if you think your product could be of
use to me. I really appreciate your calling me -
I called you back and went straight to your website
to learn more.

Here's my website - I'd really like your opinion of
it - I was wondering if you could check out my business
and tell me if you think your product could be of
use to me. I really appreciate your calling me -
I called you back and went straight to your website
to learn more.

Here's my website - I'd really like your opinion of
it - Start Making Money - index.html

Now this is a whole lot cleverer than you probably think
if you didn't look at the link up there... because this
email is basically an exploding cigar.

On a more serious note you may be wondering about the new
trend in the "income opportunity" world online of setting
up a review site to basically bash the competition - it's
the way things are being done. I seriously think phone-
spamming is sleezy and deserves to be eradicated.

This marketing technique is pretty "agro" -> putting up a
site to excite "reverse marketers" (which is what phone
spammers are doing) by making them believe they have a
prospect, and then deconstructing the idiocy of their
marketing approach, it's also a way to put prospects in
my own lead funnel, because I ACTUALLY DO HAVE A BETTER
OFFER.

You might want to check it out.

Just one of the many, many tricks I have up my sleeve.

Cheers,

Loren Woirhaye

P.S. you may be wondering why I don't use the "Do not call
list" - Actually as a business phone I cannot be on it. If
you publicize your business phone-number you should expect
the number to get "harvested" and get these phone-spam
calls. My method is just a way of turning this annoying
fact of business to your advatage.

P.P.S. I have to admit putting this whole thing together
WAS a little bit fun. Hee Hee

    Way fun, Loren.

I still like blowing whistles in the phone however because I consider a cold call spam since I didn't ask to be called.

I also love the 'do not call list' and threatening telemarketers with the FCC if they don't stop calling me. (888-382-1222) or (donotcall.gov)

I don't get reverse marketing even via email. I would never want to be associated with a spammer, email or phone, under any conditions.

...gee is this why i don't do better as a marketer...

(I like your recordings on that site, btw, and do get how you are using this as a marketing technique, and admit it could be effective) hmmmm

(i am not really obtuse but in a very contrarian mood, more so than ever)

and btw#2 it has been a while since we talked - are you the same person of your same name that Butch H. knows? Are you still with Veretekk (I am).

p.s. I also love the recordings done on how to get rid of telemarketers - particularly the one about telling the poor kid he is calling the home of someone who was just found murdered and that you are the police, and that by calling they are now a suspect. heheheheheheheheheheheh I have hardly ever laughed that hard.

I'm not using Veretekk anymore but I am the same guy -
I learned a lot from Butch and he's a good one to learn
    SEO from.

If somebody wants to pick up the phone and call me him
or herself I'm cool with it. I've done that plenty myself
and it's a great way to discover new relationships - even
    if I don't buy I'm not a monster or anything... I'm just
like any other business person who prefers not to have
    his time wasted with bullshit.

They'll tell you "well you could push the remove button..."

and my reply is "And what gave you the right to spam
me with your dumb computer in the first place?"

I don't like getting phone spam from my political party
either. It's not the message, it's the method that offends.

Phone calls may be annoying - but they aren't "spam".

My phones are on "do not call" lists. People can call me for business - but telemarketers can't (they don't qualify as "people").

What really floors me is the gall that some businesses now have to have automatic answering -- so that when you pick up the phone they have a robot telling you to please hold for them! -- I usually just hang up but sometime I am going to have time and be in a very bad mood, and I will wait just to find out what company it is calling......and then I will make life miserable for them. I have been awakened by these things as early as 8 am.

Even though I'm on the USA Do Not Call Registry, I still get calls. When I do I stay on the line to find out what the company is and inform them I'm on the the registry and will be reporting them to the FCC. Once I do that no more calls from the same company.

Then I take the time to actually report them. Don't know if it is effective and does anygood reporting but it's my little revenge.
