Where I live, it was so rainy and dark today that it looked like early evening from morning until late afternoon. Since going to the park wasn't an option, my 2-year-old son did indoor activities such as building things out of Lego, putting jigsaw puzzles together, reading, and climbing over me like a monkey when I was purportedly supposed to be working, sometimes practically doing it all at once in systematic rotation (making me go a little bonkers).

Then, in the late afternoon, sun broke out and the heavy rain was gone with just a light shower still falling. As the sun was setting, everything in view outside the window became luminescent. My toddler ran to the window, gazed outside, and shouted, "Rainbow!"

Sure enough, there was a rainbow that looked like it was shooting out of a pot of gold in the horizon and rising high above the skyscrapers in our view. My toddler had seen pictures of rainbows in books before but this was the very first actual live rainbow he had ever seen in his life. The way he responded to it made everything seem magical.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to keep that amazement with nature all through our lives?

      Indeed!

If more of us did, I think we'd find a less stressful world.

There is nothing better as a calming resource than viewing a spectacular and majestic scene of nature in all of her glory. Well, to me anyway.
