Hi,

I know everyone that deals with making money online get scams all the time. I am just wondering how do you deal with it or go about getting your money back?

It would be nice to know how everyone goes about doing it, this way I will be more prepared when it does happen to me and I will know the proper steps to take.

Any of your input would be great!

Thanks,
therise

It's been so long since I've been scammed online. I only make purchases from reputable websites, such as Amazon or Ebay. As far as other scams go, I research everything before I make any purchases, or invest any money. You can never be too careful these days, especially on the Internet.

I usually post scams on Facebook to get a good laugh from my Internet marketing friends.

But I recently fell victim to a scam; 2 in the last year... Very dumb on my part but you live and you learn..

One was a web based program called instant cash plugin and the other was just coined the "domain name appraisal scam".

If you ever get contacted by someone asking to buy your domain name foran amazing amount, don't fall for it..

Firstly, don't expect that you will be scammed. There are ways to minimise this happening. Research products and product developers. Look for well respected names in the industry and make a list of marketers with integrity. If you are not satisfied with the quality of a product and a refund guarantee is offered then send it back to the site of purchase. I have done this with a few Clickbank products in the past and have never had any problems securing refunds.

Any deal which makes me feel too good is something I always doubt and look twice before jumping. After all there are no free meal. Having said though, I fall for one direct message in twitter account once.

Yeah, been scammed a few times over the last 5 years!!!

First time it was a system that claimed you could make $1,500 a week! It was true technically, but wasn't said that you have to be a relatively outgoing saleman, who had an in demand product and was going to a seminar, (real one). And make a couple of JV, deals, etc.

Arrrrgggg, a lot of scams are like that, they give you the impression that it is quick and easy and doesn't involve anything that someone who sits behind a computer all day wouldn't want to do!!!

But l did get some useful info, in the end, which came in handy for one of my sites, and also got a refund from Clickbank as well. l have to admit they did get $5 of my money on an up sell, but that's ok...

But like others have said before basic research will save you a lot of wasted time buying something that may work, but be particularly unpleasant to do.

I also researched, a product that make a lot of claims, and didn't hold up, to research.

I later found out that, he did make huge amounts and owned the mansion, etc, but what he failed to mention was that, he spent years of effort creating a list, etc to get the mansion, etc; not the system that was a crapping piece of software that, would only save you a little time in doing the same thing!

Not particularly life changing, and certainly not worth the $47 price tag. Obviousy life changing for him because he had the video and high profit stats,.

Oh, well, if he wants to burn his credibility for a quick buck it's his skin!!!

A few others, but the worst was a site that had an autoresponder, and supposedly a large list to access, etc. I later realized the list was limited, and didn't really work because everyone else had already thrashed it, (very common issue with commercial lists); so after a month and about $60 out of my pocket for recurring monthly fees, l decided to ask for a refund!!!

From that point it got worse, l found out l had to fax my cancellation to head office, all of the fax numbers didn't work. And l probably had to fax them during their business hours, or have to hire or buy a fax machine to sent it!!!

And cancelling my PayPal payments, charge back l think that it was called, wouldn't work, and l would only end up paying more to them!!!

      Arrrrhhh, nightmare company!

Thankfully my upline, was a decent human being, and cancelled it for me, Relief!!!

Yep, scamming is probably a sure thing if you want to stick with IM, and make it work, but if you just type in the product name with review, or video review at the end, then most of the time, you can find others that have already bought it, and can let you know what it really is.

      Good luck.

      Shane

PS not all products are scams, some are actually genuine, and can make a big difference, so don't get scared of trying new products, just do a bit of research first.

I think the Internet is the biggest breeding ground for scammers, and rip-off artists. I think its better to make purchases in real-life, especially if they are very expensive.

What usually helps with the prevention of scamming is to google the name of the course you are interested in. If it's a brand new course, google the name of the guru selling it. You will find lots of revealing information that way.

I haven't been scammed big time, but have been in small amounts. It was easier to let it go as I didn't lose that much either. It pays to be really cautious in dealing businesses that involve money. Avoid thinking ahead about getting much in return with your investment to begin with. Most scams would stir that part in you and lure you to jump into their trap. First thing is to validate the legitimacy of the person you're dealing with before you take that cash out off your pocket.

Yeah, scammers know that they have, l think it was about 10,000 new newbies going online a day to make a buck!

And with the economic uncertainly probably more. And most will quickly realize that it is a real business, which means it will require time and patience to get going.

Obviously some shortcuts work, but a lot don't, especially the GRQ ones!

But as everyone knows if you can make a profitable product or sell someone else's product, you can potentially make a fortune from it!

That is the carrot, and scammers are all to aware of it!

I got scammed once from a transcribing job. It was totally my fault because we transacted outside the comforts and security of a merchant website. I'm a VA/freelancer and for me, it's always a plus to have a site secure your payments unless you've been working for that client for a long time. Never happened again though, learned my lesson I agree with yukon. Self-control and common sense = good combination

Hm, I think in a lot of ways, we're the ones doing the scamming.

In my case, we get scammed by affiliates with bad traffic, but we have our ways of taking care of that.
