New DNA study proves existence of Sasquatch

Too weird.

Ketchum calls on public officials and law enforcement to immediately recognize the Sasquatch as an indigenous people:
"Genetically, the Sasquatch are a human hybrid with unambiguously modern human maternal ancestry. Government at all levels must recognize them as an indigenous people and immediately protect their human and Constitutional rights against those who would see in their physical and cultural differences a 'license' to hunt, trap, or kill them."

      According to PRweb.com,
And where does PRweb get their news? From PR releases? And who would put out such releases? Oh - the people on the Bigfoot TV show?

This info was just disseminated by Huffpost and others - and already scientists are crying "foul" and "fake".

I don't think their "rights" are endangered as no one seems able to find one of them.

There is also a parallel Bigfoot DNA study being done by Bryan Sykes of Oxford University that will have published peer-reviewed results early next year.
I'll wait for this later study - Ketchum who did the PR releases is known as someone who "phones in" results.

You're right - that was fun.

Actually - Yeti are not rare sightings on the Tibetan Plateau - and "scientists" aren't backing off the DNA samples from over there. There is a land preserve for them on the Plateau to keep them safe from tourists etc.

I haven't looked at this link - so I'm not sure if this is actually new info or the same that is several years old at the least from the Plateau area. The Tibetan Plateau is the least explored region in the world and many parts of it have never been reached by humans (not our species of human, anyway). Over there a denial of Yeti existence would get you called obtuse or worse. Of course, over here - money is the sole decision of what science stands and which is buried.

I'm not sure how I feel about Sasquach, though - which would be basically a Western relative of the Yeti. We have a lot of unexplored land in the N. but not anywhere near that of the T. Plateau. My reservations about a Western version of the Yeti is that the sightings are just way rare for the amount of population here and the limitations of the land. I'm sure those that have been seen would just be drifters - explorers maybe. I doubt that any actual packs, settlements, whatever would exist over here with the limited space.

Speaking as someone well infiltrated into some scientific communities - you would probably swallow your tongue if you realized how much real, documented science is stopped by "OFFICIALS" and never reaches the public. The "official" word in Archaeology and Paleontology is fabricated to suit TPTB. They are quite voracious about science crews not upsetting the "official" point of view, too. I have a friend who was enticed by a spray of bullets to leave his findings. They didn't fit well with what we are being allowed to know. When you find the "official" word that placiates your own view of the world - I'll probably be likely to call THAT one poppycock.

It was cool to think there was a bigfoot for a moment, but you are right Kay. As Marketing Warriors we should be savvy to that kind of stuff.

Anyhoo - you gotta love the trailers advertising those episodes. Latest is the group back in California "where the acoustics are so much better" - and there's noise in the woods. They decide the noise is "bigfoot destroying underbrush". Or, could be a raccoon, I guess.

Sure, it is. California acoustics in the great outdoors? Uh-huh...or maybe they just got laughed out of Indiana and other states....and had to go back to la-la land where people will believe anything:p

What I wonder is where they would find to hide in CA - everything is owned, and fenced - completely off limits. I'm sure one would have been "brought in" for trespassing by now. They have a ways to go to make California even seem to be the same as a plateau that whole civilizations could exist on without our knowledge. N. Canada - I can believe that. CA - not a chance. Not until they get a "thing" for Gucci and Prada.

Matt Moneymaker is the one that gets me. Now he's saying how "squatches" imitate other animals, so if you hear a coyote, it may "really" be a "squatch".

Hopefully a squatch will learn how to imitate Jimmy Stewart and Richard Nixon, so we'll see it on Leno soon...

I only know Moneymaker and "Bobo". I know the girl is the only reasonable one on the show and she's a skeptic, but I don't know her name or the other guy's name.

No, you don't have to worry about the coyotes.
It's the bears hiding in the shadows; "Psst! Hey buddy. Wanna buy a watch?" CHOMP!

There was an episode of Destination Truth where they were searching for
one of them. Sasquatch, Yeti, or what-ever-they-call-the-Russian-one.
They found a clump of hair hanging from a branch. when they had it analyzed for DNA it was identified as mammalian but, it did not match any mammal in the labs database.

      Just FYI.

It was closer than just mammalian, but I can't remember details. Still - sightings in the Tibetian plateau region are not rare occurrences. They Yeti may just be a different form of simian, but they do exist - and they have built a preserve to keep people from shooting them in an area they are seen frequently. What we don't know is exactly how monkey or how human these things are. From pictures and accounts, they don't seem to me to be the same thing as Sasquach. Any way you look at it, though - any species smart enough, and able to, stay away from humans probably has a good chance of survival if they inhabit a region we aren't tearing the snot out of.

I got some gas the other day and when I went in to pay there was a note on the door that the producer of the "Finding Bigfoot" TV show wanted to meet locals and talk to them about their encounters with Bigfoot. Looks like they may be doing a show here about not finding bigfoot. Cool!

I think there is something out there, just haven't got any idea exactly what - too many grainy and "iffy" photos and vids. So until they actually catch one and teach it to speak on the news, I'm not making any bets.

My SIL and BIL went to some seminar recently in WVa about them - it was on the way of a trip they were taking. Sure wouldn't have made the effort to drive all the way myself just for that, either.

Once the hype heats up some more, we are probably going to see big foot toys all over the place. Only question is: will the kids actually want them?

HeySal, if the plateau area is where the sightings are, perhaps the reserve is more to keep people safe instead of the yeti?

Kurt's theory of fuzzy big foot photos and videos: Because all the clear, in focus footage show it isn't a big foot.

HeySal, if the plateau area is where the sightings are, perhaps the reserve is more to keep people safe instead of the yeti?
The Plateau is the largest and highest plateau in the world. It runs about 1,600 miles - stretching from the Himalayas into china. North and south it's somewhere around 700 miles. The altitude is on the average of about 14,000 feet. Nobody knows what all is there. Farmers in the "foothills" often see Yeti's - similar to bigfoot, but I'm not sure they are the same thing exactly. They've had DNA evidence for them for several years now. At least 2 that I know of. The Reserve is to keep their natural environment from being over-run by humans. Nobody knows the exact nature of their environment. There are canyons that are impossible to get into - deep ones. There may be exits if you were to get down into one some way and poke around a little. It's not an area of the globe you'd want to just run a helicopter over. Winds that high can be pretty fickle.

There are legends about people going to explore and never coming back. Those types of legends are typical for regions that are mainly unexplored, though.

Sightings of Yeti can't even be compared to people running around after bigfoot. I don't think they'd be the same species and, as I said before - I don't think there's anywhere this side of the globe for them to exist without discovery. I could be wrong about that. If they are, a sighting somewhere in the 48 states would be isolated as a few might "explore" - but I don't think we'd ever have "tribes" of em out here. They'd have been discovered en camp long before now. There's too many people and nothing left unexplored. You can only hide forever singly or maybe 2.

you people are saying there's a TV show about this?
You're kidding, right? Apparently there are people who have nothing better to do than watch Animal Planet a couple nights a week where 3-5 people dressed in camo sneak around in various wooded areas and whisper to each other about noises in the distance.

All the noises and disturbances in the dirt and movement in the woods are "bigfeets" but those devils are so fast they never seem able to get a camera on one of them. But they are REAL....I tell you....REAL.

In between the whispering and lurking around, one or the other of the humans walks a distance away from the others to "recreate" a 'realiable sighting' to see "if the size compares". Then the sightee says "yeah, that's about right" and everyone is happy.

If you are half looped - the show's hilarious. If you aren't, it's a sure cure for insomnia.

That's a show and you ask if I'M kidding? Now you know why I don't bother with television. My roomie has one and I sit and watch the 70's show and Big Bang Theory and that is IT. I don't know the names of many "stars". Every now and again I'll rent a movie. TV just isn't really on my list of things to do. Ever. That show sounds like one of my reasons why.
