Really loved LOTR films so .... Bring on 'The Hobbit' I say! I read that three Hobbit movies will be released in Dec 2012, 2013 & July 2014.
Always loved the book so movies are greatly anticipated! Anyone a Tolkien fan!?

Damn, I just realised that the world is gonna end on Dec 21, so won't get to see 'The Hobbit' after all! ;-(

I'm a fan of the books and must reluctantly concede that the films were pretty good too. However, when I heard that they are stretching out the much shorter Hobbit tale into a trilogy, I could not help but react with cynicism. They could have packed it all into one long movie, but that wouldn't have been nearly as profitable.

I'm a Tolkien fan. I can't wait to see The Hobbit! I'm glad there will be three movies too, one just seems so wrong, lol.

    I am with LarryC.
Jackson made 3 good movies out of LOTR,but its too bad he didn't make the book's story into the movies. They are nice to watch and well crafted, but too many variations to be what the book was.

ANd as LarryC said, to take the much shorter book and to stretch it into 3 different movies is just beyond comprehension to me. But then, maybe it he had made LOTR into 9 movies and followed the story I wouldn't be saying that about The Hobbit.

Having said that, I probably will go see at least the 1st movie in the theater.
Warning though, I read an article about the High Speed 3D that he is showing at some places has caused headaches and other problems in a lot of people.

LOL... now you're just complaining because it didn't quite capture you as the books...... no movie ever will....
No one could have done it better short of Tolkien....

Have you read them lately? Just as good as the first time..

Can you speak english and make sense?

My complaint is,and has always been, he didn't follow several MAJOR parts of the story line ,effectively changing what they story was.

Have I read the books lately? I've probably read them more timess than the number of years you have been alive.
        HeySal,
"Another Tolkien fan here. I even read the Silmarilian. The first few pages of that one was actually quite a pain in the rear - but the rest of the story livened up."

I have two copies of that book...The first pressing release had a misprint.
So I stashed it away and bought the corrected version for reading.
It really hasn't gone up in monetary value, really only worth a bit more to Tolkien fanatics.

I don't care if it's too long, too short, too criticised, too CGI'd etc, etc, etc, I JUST WANNA SEE IT!!!!!! Peter Jackson doesn't really make bad movies so I don't feel too worried! Go the hobbits!!

    A MAJOR FAN!!!
Wish the true world was as easy to control as Sauron...

I read them all when I was only a young teen and have read them several times since.

The movies are GREAT, but no justice to the books...

I'm not sure how the LOTR films could have followed every plot nuance from the three rather mammoth books! Furthermore, large sections of the text would have had to be abridged or discarded entirely in order to get the screenplays down to acceptable lengths. Of course, I wish that Gollum had been given a lot more screentime than what he had. My precious, precious Gollum!

Did you not read my posts?
I have never said every plot nuance,I said and keep saying Jackson made and/or skipped MAJOR plot details. There is a bg difference.

And you bring up acceptable lengths? Especially when he is rumoured to be turning The Hobbit, which is one book, into 3 different movies? In that case he should have made LOTR into nine movies, yes?

Anyway, As I have said many times, Jackson made three very watchable movies, but he did not make the story of LOTR.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy was damn good. The Hobbit would be a great one too as it will feature the life of a hobbit... Desperately waiting for this one.

saw the movie last night and absolutely loved it - and can't wait for part 2.
I have every Tolkien book, as well as the collectors editions of the dvds of the LOTR trilogy. You can say I'm a bit of a Tolkien fanatic.

Many Tolkien purists may find fault with the movie, but I saw it as a film-making masterpiece - Peter Jackson scores another home run on this one and Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema will make another fortune with the Hobbit series, I'm sure.
