The word Christmas is made up of two words : Christ and Mass so if you say X-mas, you replace Christ with X. What do you think?

Everyone I know says Merry Christmas, but they may write Xmas.
How a Cross got replaced with an X is beyond me.

      Hmmmm,

Maybe Christ was replaced with an X like "X marks the spot" to find treasure. You know to go along with Wherever your treasure is, determines where your heart will be also?

      Just guessing here...

I think it has something to do with the same reason they started using a 'fish' symbol...to hide out from the Roman soldiers?

Could be...someone who can't write signs their name with an X.

Just a totally unrelated random thought.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I say Merry Christmas, for the same reason that I don't say Happy X-giving or Happy X-year.

In this society that sounds very plausible.
