Many years ago, I was once kidnapped by a woman in a bar who might seem normal initially so I agreed to accompany her to her place, where I got locked in a little room with bars on the windows and got drawn into a very strange conversations and became the object of bizarre accusations that had no connection to reality...I managed to escape (not easy). I occasionally have nightmares about it. I even get dreams of the grim reaper looking just like her. I won't say more about it, suffice to say sometimes there may be turbulence and delusions behind pretty eyes and individuals -- you never know who -- seeing you but briefly can quickly generate detailed and elaborate delusions, starring...you.

WOW! The closest I came was three times when I was kind of cutoff from the outside world. The closest was when I was effectively an orphan. I was in an area that I didn't know, my mother was in the middle of one of her many moves, so I didn't know where we would live, and I never really knew my dad's address. I had also been in a major car accident, so I guess I wasn't thinking too clearly either. Ad I was HUNDREDS of miles from home! It literally takes about a day to get there.

Anyway, to sleep in a bed in a strange place wondering if your next step is adoption or something, WOW!

Still, I can imagine the problems you must have had, etc... and you couldn't go back around there, etc... because she may try AGAIN, this time FORCEFULLY!

I see kids here that I KNOW, and I won't even OFFER them a ride because, if I did and ANYTHING went wrong after that, I could be a suspect. SAD!

I was never kidnapped but the family moved to a different state while I was away at summer camp. Took me a year and a half to catch up with them.

Not kidnapped - but I was held hostage for 8-10 hours and I don't recommend it as a fun way to spend the night.

That sounds like a similar situation. Maybe it was worse for you.

I live in one of the countries with the highest kidnapping rates, yet I have never been. However an uncle was once kidnapped by Colombian guerrila group FARC. He spent 15 days in the jungle with them until his boss paid them what he "owed" them

    Very scary experience.

Yes, I was kidnapped when I was 22 by an ex. He tried to kill me and failed and I escaped after 10 hours when the car we were in ran out of gas. He tried to contact me after 30 years using Facebook last week. Needless to say I was and am freaked out.

This is turning out to be more common than I ever imagined. What you describe is incomparably worse than my experience. There is no comparison.

There was absurdity about the situation I was in. I was a full-sized young man and she was a petite woman, so circumstances were reversed from what is much more common. Statistically men are 80% more likely to be violent and carry out criminal acts than women. It was a surreal experience, being spoken to behind a locked metal door and discovering that I'd become the central character in elaborate delusions that had taken hold of her mind.

With her, I probably wasn't under any physical threat. It made me suspect that I'd been lured into a trap and that others with similar delusions as her would join her and ambush me in a frenzied attack. She had archery trophies over her fireplace, a photo of her wielding a crossbow nearby -- different scary scenarios ran through my head. Of course, I had no way of knowing if there were others, if she planned to use a weapon on me, or what. I still don't know for sure, since I managed to escape before I could find out.

Ultimately the most scary part was the stuff going through my head more than what actually happened.

WHO KNOWS? Women are more likely to be SUBTLE, and men are less likely to report. SO, if the REAL statistics said that women were slightly more likely to, then REPORTED statistics would say men were more likely to.

EVERY criminal and bully secretly hopes that is the case. It helps them keep things as they want them.
