Willie Nelson has often called Django Reinhardt the greatest guitarist of all time. Here's why:


His left hand's third and fourth fingers were paralyzed from a fire. He played all solos with the two good fingers, using the paralyzed fingers only for chord work.

    My view is clouded - all I can see is Sean Penn who played him in Woody Allen's movie about Django -

    He was really a dispicable character. Too bad because his genius always took a back seat once people saw what he was about. Even his personality was somehow rodent-like.

    At least in the movie -

    so many artists are 'mad geniuses' I don't know why it should make a difference. It is about his ART and he was a master. I will get over it.

      Hollywood does take liberty with facts and is known to do some "editing" to maximize drama. If descriptions and recounts of the events of one's life were edited to emphasize when they were at their worst (ie most "dramatic"), just about anybody could come across as monstrous.
