I live in arguably the best city in the world to see in the new year. More than a million people crowd around the harbour foreshore to watch the fireworks show. Hotels booked out everywhere! Drunks littering the streets. It's mad fun!

Only problem is, if you don't hunt for the right spot early enough, you get blocked from view. Curses! A billion people around the world will see Sydney's New Year on TV etc.

What are you doing for New Year's Eve? Parties? Holiday? Getting drunk?
HAPPY NEW YEAR Warriors - and drive safe, cos we want to see you all back in 2013!!!

    Don't rub it in!!!!!

I will get up to Sydney for your fireworks one year, (Melbourne's are oh-hum); hate to say it, but it's true!

Can't beat the Bridge, but l will see it on tv! Set your VCR, if you catch yourself on tv, load it onto YouTube and post it here!!!

I will be at home, watching it on tv, and hoping that no idiots will come it any harm with the illegal firework,s around my area!!!

One or two died or were seriously injured, last year! A firework going off in your face, and that may be the end of you; so happy New Year, and be careful!!!:p

The first New Year I encountered while living in Sydney was 1991. As David pointed out, you have to get there early to get a good vantage spot.

After the show was when the nightmare began. I did the right thing and caught the train in. Trying to get home though was a joke. Gave up on the train home due to overcrowding. No hope at all of getting a cab, so ended up walking home to Ashfield. Took about 2.5 hours.

From then on I watched them on telly.

Now that I'm back in Perth I don't have an option but to watch on telly. The beauty of this is because of the time difference, the show finishes at about 9.30pm Perth time, which still leaves enough of the Old Year left to go out and party.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

Worked on the Ferries for well over 12 years and got to see the first sky show ( fireworks with music) but the big problem was a lot of people wore walkmans so not many could hear the music lol , anyway all the best to you... great place Sydney grew up on the north shore and tonight I am out the back of the boonies in Townsville

    Cheers Jase
