America is in real trouble now. Even the police don't have enough ammunition to fight crime.

Check it out here.

Nationwide ammo shortage so severe that even cops can't buy bullets; ammo rationing imminent

They should borrow from FEMA and DHS. They have MORE THAN ENOUGH! unless a couple countries attack the US on homeland soil, they should have enough for decades.

    SERIOUSLY!

If you are talking about the general public, that IS what they are doing. I was GOING to check out the local stores yesterday, but one was totally out and is rumored to NEVER reorder. They DENY that, but a boycott has already started and, if word gets around, the drop in profits COULD put them out of business. Another is restricting people to 50 of type per visit, and totally out of some. Online, many are OUT. One bulk seller DOES have 31,000 rounds of one type.

Actually, I've used ammunition, in part, for bartering goods and services AND vice versa many times over the years....

I've never even considered the fact that it may viewed as unusual to some.

Yeah, gun stores do it all the time TOO!!!

The poster just wanted to get a hit in against preppers. Ironic, since they will be the first to wish THEY took it more seriously, if something DOES happen.

Anyway, the safest thing to trade is probably ammo. If you trade food, they may decide you are a target, money would be practically worthless, and you can't eat gold, but you need protection.

As for ME? Well, I am finally trying to ramp up. I tend to do the opposite of what is needed(buyng when I should sell, etc...). I HAVE predicted so many changes, but getting them to the day, and predicting what will be done after is harder.

And I almost wish I thought SOMETHNG like JB. He said that a shotgun was more accurate. Well, it is far LESS accurate, but you ARE more likely to hit your target, and ones around it!

If there's a shortage of something it can be used as currency whether the NWO takes over or not.

It LOOKS nice, sounds dangerous(full metal jacket), etc... but it is slower, less accurate, and not recommended for protection since it does less damage than the other types do. It is used for target practice to limit damage a bit, and get rid of lead debris.
LOL Steve, cmon man!! You know FMJ's can penetrate an engine block.. right? That will do the trick.

I just prefer my hollowpoints for self defense, because they expand on impact & cause maximum damage, unlike the FMJ's which would just fly right thru them & keep on going. FMJ's will still put someone down tho. It just isn't safe for anything behind the target.

ANOTHER few billion? Assuming that they had NONE, which is DUMB, that would probably be enough, if they used one 9mm shot per, to kill every person and animal(2feet in length or larger) in the US, CHINA, INDIA, and western EUROPE, and STILL have ammunition left over! And that is if the 4.5B or so were ALL they had! BTW tey have never tried that in all of history. If you want to destroy a city or country or continent, a bomb can do. so 4.5Billion is really all they ever need unless they want to have 4million or so people go througha REALLY intensive and tiring target practice session!

Of course MOST people use different ammunition for target practice. In fact, THE ammuniton target ranges PREFER for that is the ONLY stuff customers could easily buy at the local store(STILL limited to 50 rounds). It LOOKS nice, sounds dangerous(full metal jacket), etc... but it is slower, less accurate, and not recommended for protection since it does less damage than the other types do. It is used for target practice to limit damage a bit, and get rid of lead debris.

That's assuming that the people who're using it can hit what they aim at - read some of the 'police killed the gunman' stories and see how many rounds they fired and how few times they hit their target. I can see why they'd think they need 100+ rounds per target

100 rounds per "target" (or "people", as they are generally called ) is more than the combined total fired by every single police officer in Germany last year. They fired at "targets" a total of 85 times, of which 49 were warning shots.

IIRC, the figure for Norway is 79 shots fired in 20 years.

(Btw, 100 rounds per target is still better than the US Army, who reportedly fired 250,000 rounds per 'insurgent' killed in recent wars).

Right, but you keep shooting until the attacker stops. You don't just send a few rounds at them & hope that does it.

If it takes 30 rounds before they stop, then so be it. You send 30 rounds.

Plus, FMJ's just means they would now have an exit wound to lose blood from, on top of the entry wound.

Which would speed up the process of them stopping. Obviously, you can only lose so much blood until you pass out.

    Sometimes you CAN'T!
That is true. However, in an emergency situation if all you have is FMJ's, you would do what you have to do to protect yourself. FMJ's are better than nothing.

    Rule #?
That's #4 in the 4 basic rules of firearm safety.

1, Treat every gun as if it were loaded
2, Finger off trigger until you're ready to destroy something
3, Keep muzzle pointed in a safe direction
4, Know what is beyond your target

CERTAINLY! If all I had were a needle, and I was given a chance, the attacker would NOT be very comfortable. I used angel hair once. It got the job done.(I just wanted to give them something to remember. NOW, over 40 years later, they still might!) Talk about a misleading name! Obviously, FMJ bullets are better.

That is why there is a shortage of ammo.
Some here must be looking for things to argue about. The only reason there is a current shortage of ammunition for sale is because the public rushed to by ammo fearing limitations by the administration.

At work just yesterday a friend was complaining she and her husband had tried to buy ammo and couldn't find what they needed. What was her "need"? To have more ammo in case the govt tried to limit the sale of it. They aren't hunters, they aren't target shooters, this is pretty safe area to live in.

Take a few thousand people like her - and, voila, a shortage of ammo due to "demand".

There was a safe area once. NOW, it is DANGEROUS! I was in a safe area once, NOW it is DANGEROUS! I was in ANOTHER area. In less than one day it became VIOLENT! I moved later. I was prevented on more than 4 different occasions from going on my street BY THE POLICE!!!!!! WHY? Because a criminal was there. I literally lived in a place where in less than a year one person was killed in all four directions less than a block away. EHY, remember reginald denny? Attack on Reginald Denny - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And the SAME garbage that sparked THAT is happening TODAY! BTW they were ALL nice places when I lived there... Panorama city, van nuys, sherman oaks, woodland hills.

Do you have ANY idea how #$%^&* the idea of "This *******IS******* a safe area to live in" is? HEY, I have been there! A "SAFE" area can become dangerous in an INSTANT!

SUPPOSE, JUST SUPPOSE, that hyperinflation took its toll, people were out of work, and supplies dried up. OH, I could name DOZENS of times that happened in the US in the past decade, and point you to hundreds of videos on youtube. And THOSE were manufactured(The media has gotten to the point that it now does what we once laughed at RUSSIA for doing!), or affected all. IMAGINE when it becomes more real and comes in phases! Do I really have to say more than "GREECE" though?

BTW I checked with a store here just yesterday. YEAH, demand went up, APPARENTLY. SUPPLY also went DOWN! ALSO, to determine if demand REALLY went up, you have to check a lot of places. You want to know WHY I keep checking, even if I don't count curiosity? Because THEY DON'T have it! If I go to A to get it, and they don't have it, and go to C, and THEY don't have it, and D and they don't have it, and E because THEY don't have it, people may see that people went to 5 places, and so demand is SKY HIGH! The TRUTH? I found 31 boxes(Which is ALSO showing a shortage), at B, and didn't buy any because I am not interested in buying 1000 rounds now! In a way, the 5 places I checked showed people AREN'T as crazy as you imply. But I HAVE checked places many times. Without all the facts, a guy may figure he could make MILLIONS! As I said though, I am not in the mood to pay even $600(about what the 1000 rounds cost).

Demand is up because of the news and fear that people won't be able to buy the ammunition they need in the future.

Something like 88% of households in the US have a gun - if 5% of those decide to stock up on ammo...supplies would run low. It's supply and demand right now. People are buying out of fear...and I refuse to buy into the fear.

For me, it was a precaution, and an economically sound decision, to stock up on ammunition (and bullets, powder, and primers), not a fear-based reaction. I'm cheap - I could see a crunch coming so I bought early

That's exactly why; it's also why gun sales (or at least background checks, actual sales figures are hard to come by) are up.

Her 'need' was that she evidently decided that she didn't have enough, and wanted to get more before the supply totally ran out. I did the same thing. I shoot about 200 rounds a week to keep in practice, and I think I have somewhere around a year's worth stashed.

There's a fine line between "fear" and preparedness. We are in a situation right now that historically results in either tyrannical genocide or civil war. The people who are afraid are the ones who are screaming to end our 2nd amendment -- those out buying up guns and ammo are those who are getting prepared to fight it if it does come to that.

Do those who say people prepared for collapse or take-over are acting on fear also call those in earthquake areas paranoid for preparing for earthquakes adequately?
