This was a topic my wife was telling her co-workers when I was sick. I don't know about all men but I myself like to be taken care of when I am ill. This is the reason my wife was saying to her friends that men are big babies. Unfortunitely it blew up in her face when I ended up with full blown pneumonia. She did not know at the time I had it but I did because I have had it before. So ladies instead of calling us big babies let us have this one thing we like because it harms no one and it may keep you from looking like a ( let's just say keep you from eating crow with regret). To the healthy and the women that try to keep us that way.

I am not a big baby but my husband is. When he is sick, the whole family is to cater to him, LOL!

Everyone knows all men are big babies. That's just a fact of life. As for me I have no one to take care of me when I'm sick So I just have to take care of myself.

Gee, that's too bad. I have been so sick I haven't been able to get out of bed and my exs did nothing but bitch because I wasn't up cooking dinner for them. Once I was getting real sick and knew it (didn't know it was going to get that bad). I went to bed but couldn't even get my ex to bring me a glass of water. Then I don't remember two days. The ex went to his mommy's house and bitched he was hungry (he hadn't brought me thing one to try to get me to eat in that time) and when he tried to get me out of bed to cook I wouldn't make sense talking to him. His Mother was alerted by that and asked what he meant. She came straight over and found I had a temperature over 105 and doused me with rubbing alcohol to cool me down. I came to my senses while she was putting a shirt on me to get me out to a hospital. My last ex - same thing almost. I was down (I go down hard about once a decade) and he wanted to wave flags and be recognized as a hero because he heated a can of soup for me and brought be one stinking glass of orange juice during a 3 day illness. Let me make it clear that when these guys were just barely under the weather they expected 24/7 loving care. I know that there are men out there that have more sense and feeling than that because I had one in my late fiancee. But finding them is one huge task in itself. As far as I am concerned men are not only babies, they can be totally selfish slave-drivers. THat is the only word I can think of for someone who can lay around and cry at every ache and pain yet who expects someone female to continue housecleaning, cooking, etc when they are violently ill. When I find a man who will actually pick up the slack if I am downed for any reason, that is when I will no longer be single again. So far it's looking like it's very fortunate I love being single because I haven't found another one one that is able to deal with that. |

If you find some let me know. I'm sure the one I had wasn't the only one - if he was the last of the breed, they are extinct now. God I hope not. It would be just completely awesome to be able to be a baby now and again sometimes. Seems like something we all deserve at least once in a while eh?

How about exploring why one chooses the wrong partner that does not take care of them when they are ill? Could one be wanting to be punished for something in the past subconsciously? Could one be desiring to follow the one that they loved that had passed away that they keep choosing partners that may just kill them? An examination into the deeper subconscious psychie may be necessary before further harm is done to one self. |

I'm a guy and although I don't really consider myself a baby, it is nice to get nurtured sometimes. Usually when I am sick I just stay on my own and take care of myself, but sometimes people will help you out. Even if my girlfriend is far away she will come and try to help take care of me, and I do the same for her. Love will help both people take care of each other. Remember, "in sickness and in health"...

Wow Sal, what made you choose a man like that? That is so cold, you are deathly ill and instead of taking care of you or at least taking you to a doctor all he can do is whine about you not cooking him food? So, so selfish. Apparently the world revolved around him. I wonder what some people would do if they had to survive on their own for a while. I know a man so pampered and spoiled by his wife I doubt he could survive an hour if something happened to her. I guess the good thing about being independent is you can take care of yourself in sickness or health. I learned that when I was little my Mom wouldn't lift a finger for me when I was sick. Once I asked her to get me gatorade and she wouldn't bring me anything to drink. I learned to do it myself or it doesn't get done for me. |

Reading about how your mom treated you really hurt my feelings. My mom will go without so that I can have something and I give up everything so that my children can have everything that they need. | |

Man I hope karma comes back to bite those selfish slackers in the ***! That kind of treatment (or lack of it, I should say) is uncalled for! I have breathing trouble from time to time, and whenever I get a chest cold, it knocks me out for a good week. I have to say, my husband is just wonderful about taking care of me and making sure I have whatever I need. I don't want to be "babied" but it sure is comforting to have someone there to help out when you're trying to muck through the day. I hope he knows I would do the same for him in a heartbeat...except he never gets sick! Ever! |
