I am part of another doggy forum totally unrelated to Internet Marketing btw.

I seen a post today about something called DOGTV. A New US TV program for dogs.

DOGTV - Welcome to DOGTV The First Television Channel for dogs

The only thing I am worried about is that my dog will get smart, swipe my credit card and then start purchasing doggie pizza and doggie beer online while im at work...

Has the world gone completely crazy or am I just slow?
#dogtv #wtf

Don't watch the news too much, huh?

I'm only 27, and I swear the world has gotten like 10x crazier in my lifetime.

I'm 30, and I stopped watching the news about 5 years ago (this is the first time I'll be watching CBS in a long time, only because I'll be on CBS). Its a complete waste of time and does nothing but remind you of how f**ked up the world is.

But if you want my real opinion on the news lol, I truely believe it lowers peoples IQs. Why? Because its well known that peoples schemas in life are shaped largely by their environments. The news/media/reality shows/tv are a large part of your environment. So the more that you watch stupid people on tv, the more you start to believe its ok to be stupid. The more you begin to act like the people you see on tv.

    Or maybe I'm just paranoid?

But I've seen what it did to my mom and dad. They are almost 70 now, have watched the news their entire life, all these stupid ass reality shows, and they seemed to regress in intelligence the older they got. I love my parents to death, but American tv ruined their brains. True story. It got to the point where I was watching tv so seldomly I wound up disconnecting my cable (for 2 years). Then after Hurricane Sandy, I decided to get it turned back on. And its still on, but I'm not sure how long it will be like that. =]

Thanks, how about in terms of dogs that stare at flies or watch grass grow all day?

Well in that respect, I think its a great idea. TV for humans already targets the attention span of a dog. So it was only a matter of time before they announced programs like this.

    lol.

      Lol.

I can see my dog becoming addicted to TV.

From a marketing or online marketing perspective, this is gold folks.

This is what they call creating a market out of thin air.

        Oh! What a surprise!

This post was moved to the "Off Topic" area even though it has everything to do with online marketing.

I guess I should be thankful it didnt get sent to the Warrior Forums famous black hole of death and destruction. Oh! Whoops, did I say the "Warrior Forum", no, no, sorry... what I meant was the "The Over Anxious, Power Hungry Moderator Forum".

        Lol.

          Probably be a howling success!

          Shane

A cat station would mainly be covering fishing, l suspect. Or filming a tropical fish tank, when its programs are offline!

I have a feeling some people are sympathetic to my cause because they have been in the same boat.
I think you're wrong. There are a choice few people who will jump on any thread where mods or other forum members are bashed. They are the same people each time - and most here see them appear as "oh boy, here we go again".

Not a good club to belong to in my opinion...but not a crowded boat either.

And while watching doggie tv / if they need to take a leak outside I am guessing the remote will have a paws button.

        Show of hands...

How many people would have seen that in main discussion and thought, "What? That belongs in offtopic!"

        Andre,

If you want to discuss the marketing potential in something like this, you need to mention it, or at least allude to it in some vague way. Asking if the world has gone crazy is hardly a useful way to suggest that you see value in the lesson.

Perhaps the problem is more in your presentation than the "Over Anxious, Power Hungry Moderators."

The only relation I see is a smart person who found a pet niche that hadn't been fully exploited.

One of my cats sits on my desk and watches the monitor when I'm online. One of my dogs reacts to dog barks, whistles and doorbells on the TV. On occasion when there is a fast moving segment on TV she'll stop and look at it.

There have been online programs for cats for years - why not TV for dogs? For dogs with separation anxiety, fearful dogs, dogs who over react to noises outside the home or are destructive due to boredom...this MIGHT be a useful tool for owners.

If they can get the word out I think owners who leave dogs home alone all day would be interested in trying the programming.

            Kay,

Yep. There absolutely are uses for such channels. I have a friend whose dog suffered so badly from separation anxiety that a channel like that could have been a huge help.

My question was more directed toward the initial post, as written, and the reaction Andre had to its having been moved to OT.

You should tell them your dog has a beef with the producer and ask to speak with him or her. After al, they say this channel is from a DOGS point of view, so the producer MUST be a dog!

My rotty LOVED "Turner and Hooch". Whenever I wanted to occupy him, I'd put it on and he's sit and watch the entire movie.

However, one time he saw some horses in real life and hated them. After that, whenever he saw a horse on TV running towards us, he'd charge the screen barking and snarling. If the horses were running away, he'd "chase" them into the other room and look for them there. It got hard to watch westerns with him around.

    Kurt,

My dog is weird. If I'm watching TV, he's always in the room with me, which isn't the weird part. The only time he actually watches the screen, though, is when I have a baseball game on.

Of course, his favorite chew toy is a baseball, so...

Clearly, he's watching in case there's a bad throw that lands on his rug.

It took Gracie a long time to understand that a ringing doorbell on TV didn't require a fast trip to the front door...and she still looks toward the door when she hears a TV chime.

Paul, this is the post I made that alluded to the fact that it was marketing related. I purposely dont always mention what it is I would like to see discusses in the hope that others will take that lead... when they don't that is usually when I butt in, which is exactly what I did here.

I dont think your show of hands is working because A) not as many people read this forum area, hence the reason I posted a marketing discussion in the marketing area and hence the reason Mods post their warning and what not in that area also and B) I have a feeling some people are sympathetic to my cause because they have been in the same boat.

Nothing against you or any mod personally (never is).

        Anyway back to the thread.

My dog watched sports too, I think they like the grass.

I just tried it out on my dog with their sample video on youtube and he looked really annoyed...

Paul, this is the post I made that alluded to the fact that it was marketing related.
By which point it had already been moved to OT. Because, based on what you wrote, that's where it belonged.
I have a feeling some people are sympathetic to my cause because they have been in the same boat.
Yes, there are many people who've had posts moved or deleted because they were posted in the wrong section. Only a tiny percentage, though, respond to this action with comments like...
Oh! Whoops, did I say the "Warrior Forum", no, no, sorry... what I meant was the "The Over Anxious, Power Hungry Moderator Forum".
That wouldn't be an appropriate response to having a WSO deleted without explanation, much less having a casual post moved to the proper section of the forum.
Nothing against you or any mod personally (never is).
Of course not. It's always safer to attack a group without singling out any one individual. You can say ridiculous things that way without having to justify them with real examples. And you can act surprised when any member of the target group responds as though they take exception to your over-the-top behavior.

            Sorry, Andre. That ain't working.

Events of the past 2 weeks have pretty much proved to me that my usual habit of responding to these sorts of posts by explaining the criteria behind decisions is a waste of time. It just encourages people to further extremes.

By the way... You can be glad I don't treat this as a personal attack on the person who moved this. That would have results you would find most unpleasant.

            Paul

PS: For those who wonder if I'm overreacting myself, there's more to the situation than just this thread.

See, that's the thing about boats. Some know how to steer and maneuver them through rough waters, some merely think just another day on the ocean and some are even known to jump ship if they don't like where it's heading. But one thing is for sure here...no one ever gets away with mutiny.

I don't know if that was sarcasm, irony, or just a good-natured attempt to defuse the situation. It really doesn't matter much, at this point.

Patience is only a virtue if it has limits. This stuff has exceeded reasonable limits.

I have had posts moved and even deleted... No biggie, except extra work for mods...In all fairness though, I dont see where the above suggests anything about marketing. It may even lean toward the negative.

If you are looking for a way to portray the mods as power hungry, you are going to have to try harder than this.
