Apparently, it was given to a fan by Asimov at one time (though there no proof given other than this pic)

      "Natural Resource" - I like it...

        I believe it's true.

        Typical Asimov!

In one of Asimov's biographies, the story's told that the paleontologist George Gaylord Simpson referred to him (in the 1960's, I think) as "a natural resource", and he liked it so much he had the cards printed. :p

According to this site,How Many of Me - Gaylord Perry - there are 6303 people in US with that first name. I did not search for other countries or the variations in different languages.

When I was very young, a lady lived across the street from us with the first name Gay. She was extremely elderly then, so it must have been one of the names people used a long time ago because I never heard of anyone with that name or the masculine form above after her.

One of my neighorhood pals was (is) named Gay - Lynn was her middle name. She now goes by Gaylynn, for obvious reasons.

I've also noticed that more and more Richards are going by Rich instead of Dick.

Way back in high school, one of my fellow attendees was the son of Mr and Mrs Licker, a Hungarian immigrant couple, who had named their offspring Richard.

Since he was one MEAN mother******, everyone, and I mean everyone, called him Richard. To not do so meant risking having your facial features being rearranged.

The term "gay" has only been used to describe homosexuality for a few decades (since the 1960's I think). Prior to that it was considered a compliment to describe even the most macho of men as a "gay fellow".
