Stricken dolphin who 'asked' Hawaii diver for help: Moment mammal stuck on fishing line pushed itself into scuba instructor and waited patiently to be freed | Mail Online
  • When I saw this yesterday, I was wondering the odds that he just happened to pick the dive guide - that maybe he had seen him before, and he was familiar. Then again, it could just be that the guide made a motion to help him when he went by...

What do you think? Was it happenstance - or did he seek out who he knew would help?

Curiously, he wasn't even startled by the knife...

Dolphins seem to expect that humans will be friendly. And THEY tend to be friendly. Anyway, it probably realized that all were just looking.

I definitely believe that other dolphins turned him on to this guy - if that dolphin had not seen him before = 'hey, man, nasty mess - go see the man in the funny rubber suit, we have seen that he is a good man that will help you."

Yes I think they are that smart.

Next they will have androids and call people up -'hey! we need a hand over here'!

Then they will get a Geico commercial.

Such a great story - thanks for sharing, monkeyofstick.

Nice, what a surreal video. The manta rays twisting about were simply beautiful.

There are plenty of stories of dolphins saving humans, so a bit of payback is nice.
