I was there.
I was looking up old amusement parks from my youth and came across this.
The playlist from when The Who played and I was there.

    SWEET!

I was poking around Youtube and found this.
It got my attention not because of their youth and rather tame
performance, but because of the way Keith holds his drumsticks.
I saw them in '75 and and noticed it then.
But over the years I started thinking I'd imagined it.

Kim, you beat me by about 13 years. I saw them on their (first) farewell tour.

This is my favorite The Who video, simply because I remember seeing it on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert right after Keith Moon died, and Keith's goofball personality comes through in it so well.

This is one of my favorite songs.
Came out during the rise of punk/new wave and it just "sounded" like the right response to me.......

My roommate in college used to get up early in the morning and play side 4 to wake us all up - sometimes he would point the speakers out the window, so everybody could wake up! :p (After "Doctor Jimmy" - if you weren't up by "Love, Reign o'er Me" you were out of it...)

What's funny is that Quadrophenia came out right around the Quad" sound technology came out so a lot assumed this was about using that technology.
By the way, this is still played and discussed, how many people do you know still discuss quad sound technology?

LOL - They still use it, now they just call it "surround sound" :p

btw: Do you remember when ELP came out, and "Karn Evil 9" was mixed for quad, so that the song went around the room? (or maybe that might have been 'something' else...:rolleyes that was cool at the time! (They did the same thing in concert)

        Good call on "surround sound".
The organs of that day were awesome for the sound that went around the room!

The most famous "quad" album was Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon". Salespersons used DSOTM to sell quad sound systems. The clocks opening on Time is especially awesome.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

You are right and I agree...... It was especially effective in stores that specialized in audio equipment. I bought my first high end system at one of those places.

Fans of The Who likely know this, and others not. Sting played the bell boy in the film version of Quadrophenia.

My first album was Who's Next. It was about that time I went to a Who concert in MI, but for the life of me, I can't remember where it was. Was a good show though. I know it wasn't Sherwood Forest because it was inside. That was the most awesome place - pond, trees, etc. Never was at an ampetheater again until Red Rocks in Colorado - - you haven't rocked until you've rocked at Red Rocks. Trust me on that one.

LOL Probably due to the dubious substances in the atmosphere at the gig.
