Cop committed suicide because female boss forced him to trade sex for a good work schedule

It would be awesome to know what's going on in ALL the police departments. I can't believe the crap some of them are doing to citizens - and often getting away with just paid leave for very serious transgressions.

There isn't one part of our society that isn't set to implode right now..........cops are no exception.

So when women force men it's "rubbish"? Let me remind you of how it was for women to hold jobs in the 70's and before that. I was given the choice many times to "put out or get out." It wasn't even unusual. It was a subject women discussed over coffee fairly frequently. Now a woman pulls that on a subordination and it's garbage? If that guy was desperate for his job and it was causing problems at home, you bet it could be the truth.

Will temper this with a note that THIS one might not be true - but there are women in high places now that act just as disgracefully as some men in high places do.

What could he do? Tape her, possibly violating the law? Speak against her, possibly destroying his career? He couldn't hit her, avoid her, or whatever....

So it isn't as simple as "HE COULDN'T". That is BULL! It isn't as simple as "You can't be forced into an affair." With the basic understanding of affair(To act like you have a sexual relationship with more than one person, without the primary on knowing.), THAT is bull ALSO!

That said, I would tape her, try to trick her into getting caught, and speak against her, but I wouldn't feel tied into that job.

Then again, with my current job, I did some dumb things I would rather not. I had one customer I liked and my boss insisted that I work elsewhere for the weekend. I tried to make it work out, but sandy stranded me, and OH BOY.

  I think much of it may be exaggerated for the lawsuit. There was more to the story.
  
  But most of all I think there's a personal weakness or underlying problem when someone chooses a permanent solution to what could be a short term problem.

The suicide happened a year ago - it's "news" again due to a lawsuit by his widow.

I don't get why someone would kill himself and leave his chldren without a father rather than quit his job or move to another police department in a different area.

^^^ This is what I meant when I said rubbish... Kay just has a better way with words than I do.

Also the article I read said that the guy mutually started the affair to begin with (opening the Pandora's box himself) and then the boss started threatening him when he wanted to end it. - So he wasn't forced into the affair. He was maybe coerced to stay in it longer than he wanted to. And I'd imagine the suicide had more to do with him getting caught and losing his family.

Well, moving to another police departent could be difficult. But YEAH, the idea of a suicide seems odd.

It's really rare that I "get" why anyone would commit suicide for any reason. Frankly, it's a psychological problem that I just can't get my head around.

I get that he started it. I get that his fling may have decided she wasn't going to settle for being a fling any more, and I get that he might have ruined his home and life at many levels. I just don't get suicide. Maybe if he'd been dying slowly and painfully, but just for screwing up real bad? I just don't get it.

ALL of the claims of abuse by the female boss comes from the lawsuit the man's wife filed. It's interesting to look at how the death was reported when it happened one year ago....and how it's reported now...by the same website.

Could be - or the shuffling may be a widow trying to make sense, punish someone and get a settlement. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Supervisor was wrong from the getgo to have an affair with a subordinate - you don't play where you work.
