Who has a good recipe?

I tried three different varieties at the church brunch last weekend.

Not a fan of the pickle relish version, and the others seemed too heavy on the mustard or lacking something.

Havent had a good one in a long time, and I am sure my wife could make good ones, if I wasnt under the "once a week" egg mandate

She will be out of the house for Super Sunday, and eyes can sneaks some

Help a hungry man out!

I just made some deviled eggs this morning - wow, you should have been here. Made some egg salad, too, as long as I was in a chopping mood.

A bit of red wine vinegar, a little relish, salt, fresh ground pepper, helmann's mayo, a touch of dry mustard, a pinch or two of French herbs. Can't say how much of anything as I don't measure much- I just add and taste. Not much help ...but now that I've remembered they are in the fridge, I'm going to eat one or two.

    That was mean, wasn't it?

It's a waste to be in a rare egg peeling mode, and not just do it all at once and make the most of it. Might as well do two dozen.

I will now give you my favorite Salad recipe which includes Eggs.

1: Macaroni- not too much- not over cooked- not under cooked
2: Diced American and Also Cheddar Cheese.
3: Ham, or Turkey Diced -
4: Celery chopped in small bits
5: Cherry Tomatoes sliced in four quarters
6: Brocoli- Just the tops - crumbled in to add texture.
      7: Lettuce -
      8: Chopped Boiled Eggs.
      9: Shredded bacon (Optional).
      10: Sometimes Mushrooms. (optional)
11: Pepper = roughly ground- Not finely.

Now for the grand finally - Mix it all up with "Miracle Whip!!"

I dont take the time to do it enough...but I can make a big bowl and eat it for 3 days. It's got every thing. Some call it a mess- I call it "Comfort Food!"

Add a glass of ice tea- I am a happy man!

You'd have to be there, It's awesome!

Ps. Forgot: "Add kitchen sink at will".

BR, if there ain't relish, it ain't Deviled Eggs.

My mom's are fantastic. Alas, I don't have the recipe and the phone call to get it would cost me about two hours as my mom regales me with the prescriptions everyone in the family is on. Sorry.

    parsley flakes
    paprika

vinegar + sugar + salt gives sour, sweet and salty tastes...

@ DR- Relish is acceptable in two places...
On a Hot Dog or in Tuna Salad no where else

@Kurt - You are in the lead.

I agree there are only two uses for relish and one is on a hot dog. However, the second is tartar sauce.

No relish in my deviled eggs. There are, however, drained green olives shoved in the mix on the top. Mustard - um, no, that's as bad as mixing it with mayo in potato salad.

Sorry, can't give you a recipe either, I just add stuff and throw it together--but no relish in the mix. I know that was redundant saying that, but I just don't do it.

You could find recipes on the net and see if you think any sound good to you. Now if you want to try something with mustard in it, only use a third of what the recipes specifies.

Now, IF your wife finds out, how much trouble are you going get into...she's obviously watching your diet for a good reason.

Relish on a hot dog is great, but we rarely eat any of those. I also make my own tartar sauce and use a lot of relish in the mix. One of the local stores has their own brand of pickle relish and whoever makes it for them does it right -- sure beats out the name brands.

I know some people that add a dash of pickle juice instead of relish...
            been there, done that

I use a very small amount of relish - gives the eggs a little texture. However, I don't use the standard sweet relish - I use dill relish. Tastier.

That's my recipe - um...........kinda anyhow......sometimes I like a little cayenne on top instead of paprika. I cook like Kay, I guess. Not even sure I even have measuring spoons. Throw in what you think is the right amount and move on to the next item. Fortunately, it works for me.

One little heart attack can turn into a lot more. Trust me, I know a lot about this subject because of a family member's huge problems.

I'm not sure about the limit of one egg a week, did your doctor restrict you? Do take good care of your heart, it's a totally necessary part of you. Get your check-ups, some prevention now can limit heartache later.

              Yes,Dear...

No Doctors orders, just my wife being, well, my wife.
It was one that i didnt even know I had. Showed up on ECG during routine physical
The wife has big time for real heart issues, and our diet is a result of that.
My cholesterol, blood pressure, etc are fine.
My bmi is slightly in the caution range, and I could stand to lose10 pounds

Thanks for your concern, but no worries!

      Intresting. I do like olives.
Consistency of the olives may play a jedi mind trick on me
The horseradish/ parmesan cheese combo sounds yum

It's surprisingly subtle compared to the relish/mustard fare.

Next time I am going to look into the horseradish and Parmesan idea. In fact, I might do that rather soon as I just bought a jar and a small wedge of cheese to grate my own.

I take it you don't use a lot of either?

    Rob,

It used to be cheap, nowadays it costs a good thirty bucks or more to gather up all all the ingredients. Unless you just go pillage a salad bar at western sizzlin or something, which I have been known to do when I dont feel like doing all the preparations... It's just better when you make it at home though.

Im going to start calling it "Road Dawg Salad" now lol If anyone asks me why I will say Big Rob inspired the name.

Boy, some of you get fancy with your deviled eggs. My deviled eggs always fly off the table and they're simple. Mash the yolks with a spoonful of mayo and a squirt of yellow mustard. Add a bit of salt and pepper. All ingredients to taste, of course.

A lot of people fill the eggs and sprinkle with paprika. I don't, because I don't like paprika.
