One of the best song writers, singers, poets of our times.

Yep. Big Van fan here. Seen him more times than I can remember. I even forgave him for his ill-judged dalliance with Cliff.

    Eventually.

    Another classic:

So many great artists, so many great songs, so little time ... that would be my answer. And it Stoned Me is my favorite Van song. Moondance is right up there, and I tried to find the original version to post, but no luck. All I could find is live performances, which I don't like as well.

I think Van has been mentioned and posted numerous times.
His early years with Them and then the decades as a solo artist.
I know I have posted this before, It struck meas so out of his style when it came out but in retrospect I was so wrong. Love the song and the album:

There certainly have been plenty of threads to post him in.
The Friday Night Jukebox comes to mind.

    It's kind of toss-up for me between Brown Eyed Girl, and this;

They both take me back to my high school flame. The one that got away.

We really do have too many music threads, at one time there were a group of us that posted all in the same one and made it easy to keep up. And when someone new showed up and asked about music,we would point them to that thread. I know Patrician posted regularly in it along with me,and there was a chap from England that I haven't even seen on the forum in years, can't remember his name.
Maybe we should try to do something like that again?

If it's the thread I'm thinking of I participated in it infrequently. I quit because it was just so darn big. It was impossible to keep track of what was posted and with dozens of videos on every page, I crashed my browser more than once trying to load a page.

There was a lot of good music to be had though, and for me at least, it was a great thread for finding a few good songs I'd never heard before.

I remember those threads! They were the ultimate for some excellent tunes I hadn't heard nor thought of in ages.

I too stopped visiting them due to crashes. But I surely do miss them.

    You're right Kim.
    Let's open 'The Music Thread".

But, we do run the danger of being overwhelmed and submitted to some really bad music.

That is true Larry, but don't we run that risk in any thread? Someone mentioned Justin B and New Kids on The Block already today!

I agree Dennis. Almost every thread with more than a few videos posted seems to want to crash my browser nowadays,no matter what I am using.
I think it went to Part 1,then Part 2 and then 3, and then it just died a quiet death, probably for the reasons you mentioned.

Of course, that doesn't mean we couldn't start a new one anyway.

That was bravo, and I think he was being sarcastic. His post made me laugh out loud anyway, and so he earned a "thanks" from me for it.

"Shockwave" has been crashing on every browser I use.
It started on Firefox, so I switched to IE. Then it crashed on IE so I went to Chrome. Now it crashes regularly on all of them.
I have found, however, that if I give it a few minutes it comes around.

I found the best think to do was walk away and give it time to start working again on its own like Larry said.
I tried numerous fixes, none which ever seemed to work.

All you really have to do is restart Chrome. That usually fixes it faster than just waiting.

Could be Bravo, but that is a last resort measure for me as I usually have numerous tabs open at once doing research and hate losing everything I am working on.Takes just about the same amount of time either way.

Ha! I was flipping through channels one night and came across a show with a band and a fat old man just standing at the mic singing away.

"I wonder what this is" I thought, and watched a few minutes..After a few minutes, even though I had never heard a single song he sang before,I was thinking damn this guy is good.

A few minutes later the band broke out in a Morrison hit song and I was blown away that I had been watching him all this time.
Great musician and an awesome vocal style.

  • I went out with a road manager for Van Morrison once, and she said, he was so hammered they had to put a chair on stage for him to sit on....because he could not stand up.

don't get me wrong, the guy wrote some great songs...and who could not listen to "Tupelo Honey"...
