It is good to be friendly, but important to be able back it up if need be. Some people take friendliness to mean easy target.

None of my friends confuse me for an easy target. Should be easy to pick out the difference between cordiality and victim mentality. Psychotics can spot the difference so well it's like they can smell it.

Well, a certain shyster sure learned the difference from me today, a lesson that won't be forgotten for a while.

People who take advantage of kindness or otherwise are just incomfortable in their own skin.

Be grateful for the early warning sign, rid of them and move on.

I don't waste my effort taking it to next levels since it's usually their goal to break your quality.

They can be quite comfortable in their own skins as sociopaths often are, not being afflicted with the painful pangs that accompany having a conscience and empathy for others.

That said, I agree with general principal that you describe here.

I'm still not sure they are going to feel too awesome about themselves, but there's no way of knowing.

Apparently, since they only have empathy for themselves, the only thing that makes them feel bad is any public affront against their ego, a widely witnessed deflation of their image.
