Hi, I've been trolling these forums off and on for a few months. I'm "brand" spanking new to this AM/IM business. As in, I have NO experience, whatsoever. I do find these fields as something I'd be interested in, though. I've always loved the internet and the many different areas to explore. There was a chain of events that got me to the point I'm currently at:

I started out researching blogs/blogging. (I actually blog for a few sports sites for free) That led to website building, which then led me to CMS research. Then came social media and the integration tools involved with linking them to websites and each other. And that, in turn, carried me over to Internet and Affiliate Marketing. Within that time I learned a little SEO, SERP, too.

I told you all of that, to say this (sorry :- / ).. I'm not really sure WHAT I want to do. I know I love the internet, surfing, reading about new things and old.. teaching, learning, helping, and spreading news. (mostly sports news) But ESPN has that pretty much covered, and I don't plan on working for them.. EVER.

I also have a keen interest in radio (I like to talk).. just not sure where I want to go with all of this. But I DO know I don't want to go to a 9-5 job every day.

I am fortunate enough to have a good paying job that is seasonal, so I have time to wrap my head around these things. Anyway.. sorry for my blabbing.

Just for the record, I joined the War Room, too. I've never seen so many positive things posted about something in so many different places across the web in my life (including other forums). So I couldn't resist. Even if I can't gain anything from the War Room (which I know I can) I've spent $37 dollars on much worse.. believe that.

Just want to say hi, love what I've read so far, and look forward to learning some things.. hopefully I can one day quit my seasonal job, become my own boss, and do something I love on the internet! BTW- I don't post often.. I do more reading than typing.

If you like radio, starting a youtube channel based around a certain amount of content should be something you might want to look into.

        Hey Dan,

Wise investment in the war room.STAY OUT OF THE WSO FORUM!

In other words, there is more than enough to learn in the sub forums here without breaking out your wallet for the newest bright shiny object.

That being said, Welcome to the OT lounge...

          Hi Rob,

Thanks for the welcome! Advice taken. I'm not big on shiny objects, anyway. I like to understand something and know what to expect from it before I decide if it's worth putting money into. THEN I have to decide if I'm willing to part ways with the money I love freebies! I'll search the internet until my fingertips are bruised searching for a free equivalent to a tool or app before I'll purchase one.. even if I have to put a few tools together to serve the same purpose.

That said, the War Room was a no-brainer. I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth. I hate to sound cliche, but I've gotten more information in a few hours of reading through some of these forums than I would have by purchasing most -if not ALL- online marketing courses.. as someone mentioned in a posting I read- these things you NEVER hear gurus talk about on the internet. Now I see why.. lol

One problem I DO have.. My fiancee keeps walking in the room and showing her pouty mouth.. I. MUST. pry. myself. away. from here... It's VALENTINES DAY for crying out loud!

          BTW- nice video.. (sighs)

          Cheers!

Figure out what you are most passionate about and then figure out your best way of marketing and bringing that passion alive online. If you like radio, maybe a podcast show? Good Luck, it's fun out-there

Thanks guys- for the advice and humor. I love both

Podcasting- have a little info on that, too.

After a few weeks of reading through this forum (mainly through search option<--imagine that ) There are a few things I've pinned down:

      1. Find a niche and a strategy and stick to it.

      2. Build a list

3.Keep website/blog with captivating fresh content.

Niche- that one is still under review. My fav is saturated. I don't feel like I could get far in it. Besides, ESPN, CBS, USA Today, FOX are big players. And there's litterally hundreds of medium sized players..

Don't know enough strategies yet to make a well rounded decision about that one. I need to research them to see which one I feel most comfortable with or have the best chance at succeeding with. (What's best for me may not be best for someone else, right?)

Lists- guess I gotta accomplish a niche before I can build a list to convert. Any good way to build a list once I find a niche??

BTW- Outsourcing wouldn't be a problem for me.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions,

      Daniel

Well, l have been online for 5y, and could write a book here, but l will keep it down to the Quincy basics...

When getting subscribers, with Aweber, or others, use a single optin, and only get their email, that should give you a 40% boost in signups!

Best way to create a list is by offering a PLR product, (google it) and then run several YouTube video past them to see what they mainly open, then create or scour the internet for those specific videos, then you will get relatively high open rates and have at least one email for your product, per week.

And if you want to move into videos, sign up for YouTube advertising, (you need to get Adwords first). When you do the maths, you will see this spinoff to adwords, is substantially cheaper than adwords.

So, a WP product in adwords is at least $5 for targeted keywords that convert, and on Freeview, (l think that is what they call it) is about $1.5 per click, (this is after taking into account how many people actually click on the link below the video)!!!

But be careful, Adwords is super picky, and you will need to wade through all their rules, so you don't get clobbered.

        Good luck.

Thanks, Shane! Very useful info! I like your "several videos" idea.

I'll probably go that route when I get ready to build that list. I don't think I'll be making my own products, though. I'd probably feel better selling someone elses. But who knows.. as I've said, I'm new at this. Gotta cover some ground in the different types of strategies before I make an educated decision about which marketing technique I'll be applying.

I'm just scraping the surface, here.

Thank you for your help! I'll be using your idea for list building after I figure out my niche and strategy.

          Best Wishes,

          Daniel
